Havent got a clue. She spent ages in the doctors this morning playing with dolls.

Are there any for her age? Don't really have a clue. Any other recommendations.

Nothing too big, house is stuffed to bursting as it is!

Wheelybug, perfect for a 2 year old and they're very cute, quite compact. I have one for my 17 month old in cow and he spends half the day on it but could go a lot faster when he gets to 2!

nancy75 · 09/05/2008 21:33

if she was interested in dolls what about a buggy (elc do one for about £10 that folds up) and a doll to go in it. my dd is2.5 and loves dolls, she has the crying one from elc - dont know its name and some others that are smaller, think they are called baby born?

pofaced · 09/05/2008 21:35

We got dd1 a train set as she had a lot of "girl" toys... She had a fab doll for £5 from local toyshop (anatomically correct, no moving eyes so can be bathed/ left in rain etc) which is still loved (dd now 11!) around that age too: bought on arrival of DD2 when she was 22 months. If she doesn't have a doll, definitely get her one: DD1 first came across one at 18 months and was entranced by it beyond measure. If she has a doll, get a train (no-one else will!)

I did the exact same thread about a week ago. DD has now had her birthday, the presents which she loved were an art easel which she scribbles on all the time. A sandpit/water table and some big chunky floor puzzles. We ended up buying her playmobil which she can play with when she's a bit older.

fizzbuzz · 09/05/2008 21:38

Hmmm, so dolls are an option then. She has a ittle buggy which she is obsessed with, it goes everywhere with her with a bunny in it!

What's a Ladybug? I think I have an old duplo train set of ds's somewhere, thinking about it

DD really likes her Baby Annabel (one of the lower spec ones that does stuff for about £18) and pram.

For her birthday on Sunday she's getting an ELC easel & she also enjoys her brother's Fisher Price Doodle Pro.

If she's active then a trike or 3 wheel scooter.

My Alphabet Phonics Book by Vtech gets a fair bit of use.

Play kitchen

CristinaTheAstonishing · 09/05/2008 21:43

DD1 got playdough and a tea set AFAIR.

pootleflump · 09/05/2008 21:44

We got dd a likeabike for her 2nd birthday. She's now 3.5 and don't think a day has passed that she hasn't been on it.

lilyloo · 09/05/2008 21:45

some ideas here
My dd 3 and the toys we have had best use of from her 2nd birthday are easel / doll and pram and elc kitchen.

fizzbuzz · 09/05/2008 21:47

Well, thanks for all help. Have looked at that Baby Annabel, but it says fron age 3 Is it very big or something?

What's a likeabik?

lilyloo · 09/05/2008 21:49

dd got this for he 2nd birthday but says from 3 but she still uses it now so money well spent.

nancy75 · 09/05/2008 21:51

thats the one we have from elc, its bigish but nothing that could cause choking or anything, dd has had it for a while and been fine with it.

nancy75 · 09/05/2008 21:54

if you want one that says age 2 try the toys r us website and look for baby born, they are ok for 12months +, would do a link but they never work!

chipo · 09/05/2008 22:47

my dd nearly 2 loves duplo. I got it for her at Xmas (18mo) but has only just got into it.

moodlumthehoodlum · 09/05/2008 22:52

Baby Stella - lovely soft cuddly baby by manhattan toys, magnetic mouth so can have a 'dummy' and a 'bottle'. DD loves hers. So does DS tbh, and I nearly got him one for his 2nd bd.

here

WinkyWinkola · 09/05/2008 22:54

A tea set. A nice ceramic one. They love role play at that age.

weddingcake · 10/05/2008 07:45

Aqua Draw!

Wheelybug

bigmouthstrikesagain · 10/05/2008 08:39

My dd was 2 kast month I asked GP's to get her dressing up clothes and a tea set as she loves pretend games and she has millions of more gender neutral toys to play with due to 3yo brother - and she liked them.

But mostly she likes getting muddy in the garden with big brother

fizzbuzz · 10/05/2008 08:50

Yes, dd is very keen on gettting muddy and covered in sand.

Wheelybugs look very cute and interesting, will they be any different to the 2 ride on toys she's got?

Have already decided she would be getting a tea set. She has a very little one that she loves. The Stella doll looks nice and soft, although I fear she will from a close attatchment to that dummy . She's mad about Fifi, so was thinking about getting one of those little push along trikes

And where are we on dolls clothes...they look hideously overpriced to me.

Do they all fit one basic size doll? Or lots of different sizes

bigmouthstrikesagain · 10/05/2008 09:55

To be honest I get most toys from car boot sales and second hand shops and so every time I go to a toy shop I faint at the price of these things new! Under 5's don't seem to care or notice if you have bought toys new so I intend to carry on until peer pressure kicks in at school - then we shall see ...

Sparkletastic · 10/05/2008 09:58

DD2 (2yrs) got the ELC baby doll that she lurves and a Fisher Price doll with clip on dresses and accessories - they do a whole range I believe. The other massive success was ELC plastic velcro fruit with knife (!) for chopping. Hours of fun for some reason....
