I like mine - super light, super easy to fold, stands up solo when folded (which is brilliant at bus stops). Can truly be folded with a single hand in seconds. I really like it.

I wouldn't have got it without the carry cot though, worth its weight in gold.

DS adored it and would sleep in restaurants with the hood tipped down. It also unclips to make a very handy travel cot for when they are tiny.

I bought a compatible car seat and found it a nightmare - well the seat was fine as a seat, but I never once used it on the buggy. It was very difficult to get on and off, and was quite hard to install in the car so I never bothered to take it out.

However I think they have changed the way you attach the carseat to the buggy now, so possibly it has improved. Still, unless you have a hugely car-oriented lifestyle I wouldn't bother with it, I'd just get the other bits.

One other tiny con is that there is a bit of an awkward transition from the carry cot to the buggy, unless your child is a tiddler. DS started to outgrow the carrycot at about 4 or 5 months and was frankly bulging out of it by 6, but the buggy is still pretty upright for a 5 month old. We padded his with sheepskins which helped. It wasn't a major issue, but I would have preferred either a bigger cot, or a bit more of an incline on the buggy.

Thanks for that - how do you find the shopping basket? I've been told its really small and that you can't hang changing bag etc on the handles.

I'm unsure about whether I'd need the car seat , ahve to think about that!

I had the Fastfold for DS2, with the carrycot and carseat.

Pro's - loads of them, loved it to bits, and I did put shopping on the handles, never did it any harm. Was a breeze to steer, even one handed, great for on and off the bus.

Con's - DS2 was out of the carry cot at about 4 months, but not big enough for the seat (from 6 months), the seat didn't recline (but they do the Toro now that does recline properly), ermmmmm think that was about it.

Overall, it is the best one I have had (but have only had 3, so don't have extensive buggy knowledge)

NJ will you use it again for this baby?

Nope, we sold it (I know, why the hell did we?!!) besides think I may need a double, but if we can possibly get away with a single, then I would get the Toro.

MamaG · 12/05/2008 13:54

so you def recommend a Toro over the fast fold? Becasue of the recline feature?

Sorry, I know I'm asking daft Qs

shopping on handles - IME it's fine as long as your baby doesn't get out (without a baby in it is tippy - one downside of its being so light). With a baby in it's no problem, unless you go bonkers and start hanging gold bullion off the handles or something.

You can get buggy weights to clip on the front wheels which make it more stable without the baby, but of course also make it much heavier - I did without and never found it a problem.

Shopping basket underneath - it's not as large as some, but is better than others. I find it ok. It's not massive - you couldn't get a week's shopping in there - but it's fine for trips down the town. I can get the nappy bag and a bag of groceries in, no trouble. What I tend to do is put the heavy staff in the basket (tins, wine etc) and the light stuff on the handles. Works fine for us.

Yep what theyoungvisitor said.

I haven't actually seen the Toro in RL, but if it all works the same as the FastFold, but with the reclining seat, I would recommend it.

I'd only want the basket for changing bag and maybe a few bits of shopping, certainly not a full shop so I think it will be fine, thanks
