Where in London can I buy smart wedding envelopes!?

Received our wedding invitations today and it turns out that the envelopes (both the main envelopes and the ones for the RSVP cards) are a bright white that just looks wrong with the invitation and inlays.

Won't have time to purchase more envelopes with most online retailers (already running very late and we travel on Saturday). The ones on Amazon are either too garish, or another shade of white/cream that isn't guaranteed to match, so I'd prefer to shop in person.

We need 100* *C6 envelopes (for the A6 RSVP cards) and 100 5.25" x 7.25" envelopes (to fit the 5" x 7" main invitation).

I've checked the websites for John Lewis, Ryman, Smythson, Pemberly Fox, and Hobbycraft but they either come with cards or don't have the right sizes (or both).

Where else can I look tomorrow!? There must be somewhere, right? Also open to creative options!

London graphic centre in Covent Garden may have some. Would also ask any printers that you pass by if they know anywhere. If I was you I would just buy the ones with cards though, sounds too stressful to be searching high and low for envelopes. I’ve never had a wedding though!

Or you send a digital image if that’s appropriate and send the invites at a later date with perfect envelopes.

anotherbridezilla · 30/01/2025 21:26

Thank you @Mintearo7 - I'll try London Graphic Centre!

Unfortunately they are already soooo late that everyone is on my case and I'd rather just get the real thing out ASAP!

Just use the envelopes you have. Noone is going to be comparing the colour of the envelope with the invitation. I'm sure they'll all be devouring the info and gazing at your beautiful invitation and insert design.

anotherbridezilla · 30/01/2025 21:28

It would feel wasteful to get the ones with cards I suppose - I know I could always find a use for them later, but I already have so much clutter that I'd like to avoid this :( but might be my only option...

In the kindest possible way - other than you, nobody will notice or care.
Don't waste money that could be put into your actual marriage.

Jk987 · 30/01/2025 21:42

Definitely use the ones they came with. I can't understand why the shade of envelope is important. Not worth trekking round the shops for anyway!

OwlInTheOak · 30/01/2025 21:45

Just use the ones they come with, they'll just go straight in the bin anyway

Mosaic123 · 30/01/2025 21:48

Can you use the ones that come with cards and use the cards as thank you cards?

Buy envelopes for the thank you cards later.

anotherbridezilla · 30/01/2025 22:09

@Mosaic123 that's a good idea!

I know that not everyone will care or even notice, but I've put a lot of work into the invitations and want to do them (and myself) justice!

I don't mind spending a few hours shopping, just don't want to go on a wild goose chase...

In the very nicest possible way, I would use the ones you have.

I remember fretting hugely over the very exact shade of green in my wedding invitations, and worrying about whether the printer would be able to reproduce the exact shade that I was planning on using for the hand-calligraphed envelopes...wedding prep can be a funny old time 😁

Having said all that, if you're desperate, there used to be a lovely stationery shop towards the bottom of Sloane St, near Sloane Sq - I'll see if it's still there!

HiCandles · 30/01/2025 22:20

Oh OP I know the wedding plans can seem all important when you're there, I was you too once. Honestly I don't think I have ever noticed the envelope once I've opened an invitation. It goes straight in the recycling. Even the rsvp envelope, these days I'm just impressed if it comes with one including stamp instead of RSVP'ing on a wedding website or by message to the B&G. I could've afforded rsvp envelopes and cards but chose not to, it feels so lovely old fashioned decadence to have them to me.
The actual invitation I do like to admire and I like the little nod it gives you towards the type of wedding it'll be.

BathTangle · 30/01/2025 22:28

Try Mount Street Printers in Mayfair? Expensive but lovely!

anotherbridezilla · 31/01/2025 00:13

Thank you for the reality check @MaverickBoon @HiCandles - I'm sure I'll feel similarly a few months down the line but I think I'm in too deep right now to abort this mission!

@BathTangle that looks gorgeous AND they have both sizes I need - thank you! Definitely expensive but thankfully it's just envelopes...

I second the Mount Street Printers suggestion

I came on to say exactly the same. I was obsessed with things like this for own wedding - a waste of time, money and energy. Use the envelopes you've got.

anotherbridezilla · 31/01/2025 15:13

@MedusaAndHerFavourites just re-read your message properly... I completely understand what you're saying, but I had to chuckle at the thought of all the money I'd be saving on envelopes being put into the marriage😂having said that, given the prices at Mount Street Printers, you might have a point!

Rushing off there now!
