ICandy Cherry Pushchair - problems!

Well my beloved pram developed a serious fault this weekend - when in upright position, DS was suddenly thrown back into fully reclined - much to his (and my) surprise. It would appear that the reclining mechanism is broken - and guess what the pushchair is 13 months old.

Did a search on the web last night and found that it is a commen fault, and apparently ICandy have extended the warranties to 2 years for ths product.

So I went to the pram shop where I bought it today - they are lovely people, but I expected a bit of a battle.......

......but no!! They have phoned ICandy today to request a new seat frame, and it should come by Thursday, I would then just need to call in and they would take the covers off my seat unit and put them on the new frame - problem sorted! I was very pleased - hopefully this will fix the problem, but thought I would share my pleasant retail experience with you!!!

The same thing happened to my ICandy cherry after about 2 months - over a year later I have had so many replacement parts that I have virtually had several new buggies from them. The seat mechanism has gone twice and the steering of the front wheels went about 2 or 3 times (lost track of the number of times now). I had one of the first buggies when they came out last year and they clearly had a lot of teething problems - particularly with the front wheels which they have now changed the design of. As you found - they were always very helpful at sending me new parts as needed but I have to say it has been a great inconvenience. When it works I love this buggy - especially rear facing - but because of all of the problems we have had with it I don't think I would recommend it.

Interestingly I am now looking for a lightweight stroller for my ds who is 19 months - I know the Maclearen is the safe option........but I'm tempted by the Petite Star Zia - on the mothercare website - nice looking and folds up small - anyone had any experience with it?

I too am looking at the Petite Star Zia - it looks fab and should fold up small - several people here seem to rate them!

Just read some of the threads - it looks as though the Petite Star doesn't take a buggy board - neither does the Cherry by the looks of things - as thinking about number 2 at some point I would like to have this option. I'm thinking I might have to do the sensible thing and go for a Maclaren..............

No not a Maclaren!!! Have you looked at the O'Baby range - similar to Maclaren but some lovely colours!! Maclarens are too tall for me to push comfortably!!

Oh didn't realise that about Maclarens - would be difficult for me too then - I'm also bored with seeing them everywhere!
