I need appliances that work!

I got a grant (I can’t remember what it’s called but it was because I couldn’t afford to buy appliances) to pay for a washing machine over a year ago and it has been blinking and malfunctioning. I have opened it and the floors been flooded with water too because it doesn’t always drain or it will randomly decide to stop spinning. It also vibrates and makes a racket. I called the council, and the manufacturer and they said it would be £150+ for an engineer to come out per appliance if they think I have broken it. It is the same thing for the fridge freezer paid for by the grant which will sometimes randomly decide to defrost itself and all the contents. It also claims to be ice free but it’s not. I need to replace these appliances. I know I haven’t done anything but they always find a way to blame it on customers and I simply don’t want to save up and pay an engineer fee for a machine that will probably keep breaking and was cheap to begin with. I need a washing machine and fridge freezer that will last.

I need to save up for a few months before buying one so I don’t want anything that’s on sale right now

My Samsung Ecobubble has been great. Still going strong about 7 years later. Unfortunately it wasn't cheap, but got on interest free finance.

I think Samsung and Bosch are reliable for both appliances.

Agree with Samsung and Bosch, I'd look for previous models (end of stock). Extra buttons are just gimmicks the overall design & materials is the important part.

Depending on your budget I would look at Beko, Samsung and Bosch with Bosch being most expensive and Beko the least. Never had an appliance from these brands that's not still going strong 10 years later.

Appliances online have been excellent for supply and fitting from personal experience and an elderly family member and there's often a decent offer on Topcashback for them.
