Those big trampolines with surrounds - did your kids get bored of them? Worth buying?

Ok those huge trampolines - the 8 to 12 ft ones with surrounds.
Ds (and myself and dh to be honest) absolutely love trampolines but we're worried if we splash out on one of these he will get bored of it once the novelty wears off and we will have spent a couple of hundred pounds (or more) on it.

So if you have one, was it a good buy?
Did your kids get bored of it?
And if not, any recommendations on which to buy/ retailers/ sizes?

we got a 14ft one 2 years ago (dcs now 5.5 and 27mo).
It has alot of use!

Miggsie · 05/05/2008 22:04

even if they get bored of it their friends will still use it!!!!
You can always flog it on ebay afterwards

We have a 14ft one too from Argos (think they have a trampoline sale on at the moment)..had it 2 years and its used every day in the summer, best thing we ever got..not just for bouncing, they play imaginary games on it too.

There was a scary thread here yesterday about trampolines and how dnagerous they are though.

c0mfort · 05/05/2008 22:05

We have had ours 12 months and they still love it and go on it most days. (Dc's 6 & 4) I love it too.

ChasingSquirrels · 05/05/2008 22:07

ds1 likes sitting on top of the climbing frame and driving his remote controlled car round the trampoline - or using said car to chase 2yo running round trampoline!

ByTheSea · 05/05/2008 22:08

We've had ours (12ft) for about a year. Not a decent dry day passes without it being used.

SNoraWotzThat · 05/05/2008 22:08

got one about 2 years ago
they use it nearly every day.
jump and hang out and sit and play on it with their mates.

Would check out some of the other threads about safety and build. Some of the cheaper ones are not that great, especially if adults are going to bounce around on them. Top tip, go to the loo first!

TurkeyLurkey · 05/05/2008 22:09

Link to Argos Sale here for a 13ft one.

specialmagiclady · 05/05/2008 22:10

Neighbours with kids of 12, 10 & 8 have it. THey've certainly had it for a year and it gets a lot of use. They take my 3 yo on it a lot too.

Our trampoline is the best toy we have ever bought.

purpleduck · 05/05/2008 22:55

Got ours last summer, and dcs still love it

MNersanonymous · 06/05/2008 09:20

That Argos one is a bargain compared to others I've looked at - is it well-padded though?

Also, can someone tell me where the safety related threads are on here?

We have one, we wanted a piece of garden play equipment that all of the kids could use. Not easy when the eldest was 14 and the youngest was 4. A swing / climbing frame thing would've been a total waste of money as the DSs would never have used it and DD would have soon outgrown it.

The trampoline is a massive hit. We have had it for 2 years and it has lasted well (we don't bring it indoors for the winter or anything, it stay up all year round). The only thing that has started to go is the padded mat bit that goes over the springs, so we will need to replace that this summer.

We have the 12ft one by Mad Dash, I think it is the 'SE' version. It was a total bargain and the delivery was quick and easy. Ours is this one. That is the actual site we bought it from too.

NomDePlume · 06/05/2008 09:33

We all get on it. It is great fun and surprisingly good exercise.

Ours is at the very end of our garden on bark so that we don't ruin the lawn or have to keep moving it around to mow etc.

MNersanonymous · 06/05/2008 09:43

Ok have found the safety thread and decided if we get one a. only one person will be allowed on at once and b. it will have a surround.
