dizzydixies · 05/05/2008 22:00

7 years ago I bought a £200 pound whirpool paid £130 for the 5 year accidental cover repair thingy, so over the 5 years it go a few things replaced (motor included) but it did last the 5 years, we only had 3 dc at the time but had 2 in washable nappies so it got well used.

When we bought a new one we got the same 5 year coverplan again.

Miele. We have one and it's great. When we bought the manufacturer was offering a 10 year parts and labour warranty - confidence in their product.

BeauLocks · 06/05/2008 11:29

Miele. Have had ours for 8 years and it's fab.

Enid · 06/05/2008 11:40

miele

I love mine

it weighs the washing and adjusts the time of teh wash accordingly

family owned company

fabby

Enid · 06/05/2008 11:40

yes we also got a 10 year warranty with it

ours is on constantly despite only 3 kids!

TheBlonde · 06/05/2008 14:04

miele are supposed to be the best but was too much ££ for me

my bosch is pretty good
do not get a smeg

MuffinMclay · 06/05/2008 14:24

Very happy with my Zanussi one. Had it about 4 years now without any problems, used at least twice a day.

Piffle · 06/05/2008 14:26

we could not afford a miele but we got one as it was cheaper than replacing a washer every 18 mths
tid fabby we got one with 15 yrs Meile parts and replacement guarantee
It's superb

witchandchips · 06/05/2008 14:31

another vote for miele here

shouldbeworking · 06/05/2008 15:05

I had a Hotpoint ...It was the worse washing machine I ever had. In the first year the door seal split and the door fell off. Ok it was under guarantee but b***y inconvenient waiting for them to come and fix it. I have a Bosch now which I've had for approx 6 years and is fine. >
I only have three dcs though but one ds is on a one man mission to break the record for wearing the most clothes in one week!!!!!!!
His record so far is 16 tshirts and 9 pairs of jeans.

shouldbeworking · 06/05/2008 15:07

He is 17 btw in case you thought he was a toddler then that number of clothes would be excusable!!

AgonyBeetle · 06/05/2008 15:08

Miele. They last for ever -- my mum's is 30 years old and still going strong.

I bought mine when ds was born (9 years ago) and has been great. Buy the bottom of the range one, you don't need it to light up like a christmas tree, or make you cups of tea. You won't regret it.

PrimulaVeris · 06/05/2008 15:17

Bosch - 8 yrs and brilliant

Zanussi - 5 yrs and going strong

HensMum · 06/05/2008 15:27

We've just bought a new John Lewis washer drier. The old one was Zanussi and lasted about 7 years. We had a few probs with it and the last time we called the repair guy out he said that the John Lewis ones were all made by Zanussi anyway, and they all come with a free 3 year warranty. With the amount of washing we do (one 6 month old in reusable nappies - we average 2 loads a day) we'll probably knacker it within 3 years!

Divastrop · 06/05/2008 16:32

cant afford a miele,if credit was an option i would have considered it but its not to be.i had a hoover one years ago which i bought 2nd hand for £40 and it lasted 4 years.since then i have been through 2 hotpoints and 2 indesits.

has anyone experienced those candy 8kg ones?they seem to have decent reviews online.

suedonim · 06/05/2008 17:27

Bosch. I have just bought a larger load machine and it's fab. I can't really comment on its longevity but to judge by other Bosch products I have, it'll last ages.

dustyteddy · 06/05/2008 17:29

another vote for bosch, fab!

SueW · 06/05/2008 21:35

Never had a Bosch washing machine but our Bosch dishwasher is ten years old this year.

We've had an engineer out twice - once something stuck inside (if we'd dug a bit further we wouldn't have needed to pay £65) and once to replace the powder dispenser after we'd broken it off by not putting the tray in before shutting the door (although we lived with it broken for about a year until it managed to make it to the top of the 'To Mend' pile).

Get the Dyson. It's not cheap but it's worth it - takes a king-size duvet!! Is quick, quiet & efficient. D'ya think they do husbands?
