Outfit advice - trip to New York

Hi clever and stylish people

I am so lucky to be spending my 50th Birthday in New York in early March. Five nights there - we expect to do the usual tourist things with some nice meals out, including one fancy place for the 50th itself,

I never been to NYC, am not a regular long haul flyer and have no idea what to take by way of a wardrobe.

I’m expecting the weather to be on the chilly but bright side.

Can anyone help me put together some essential items?

I’m a size 12 with too big boobs. Small bum and skinny pins. I’m not a fan of skirts unless they are straight, but do like a dress.

Thank you in advance!

I'm also going to NYC in mid March. From experience it can be very changeable weather then - like very low temp/snowing one day and then 15-20 the next. This is also shown in the historical data for the last few years although I didn't check early March. So make sure you pack warm clothes and a decent coat, for sure, and layers so that you can adapt to warmer weather if needed. Decent boots and trainers for walking.

I don't have any fashion advice but hope this is helpful.

This sounds lovely! I'd treat it like any city break to a fairly temperate country - everyday layers, with a few nicer bits and pieces for evenings out.

E. g. comfortable bottoms (for me that's probably straight-leg or wide-leg jeans and a couple of pairs of cords - I like barrel leg ones), a few crew tees and cashmere cardigans/jumpers, maybe a slogan sweatshirt. Then I'd also have something like a silk shirt for evening, or a sequin tee, which I could wear with jeans. Hmm now I think about it it's quite a tricky time of year to pack for! Do you follow WearsMyMoney on Insta? She does a lot of city breaks and have some good suggestions/packing lists.

Decent shoes for lots of walking, you really won’t realise how much you will walk. And layers.

I’ve just followed - thank you.
