Please help me decide: Tricotti, hug-a-bub or maya ring?

I'm having trouble deciding - and I'm far too pregnant and overwhelmed with other stuff to go and see any RL people about this!

I need a sling to make Dc3 (due soon!) as unobtrusive as possible from the point of view of Ds (18 months).

I'm looking for:

  • Breastfeeding easy and pref. hands free
  • hands free and secure in general
  • suitable for newborn

Quick in and out would be useful - i.e. baby cries > baby in sling > peace for all.

Long term comfort would be good - since my previous 2 kids only really slept when held while they were small.

I'd had my heart set on a tricotti - as a more secure and supported version of a pouch. No one seems to recommend that as a bf sling though - and I'm concerned that the lack of adjustability might be limiting in getting the sling really comfy (esp for feeding).

I've used a ring sling before for my Ds - and I've looked at the maya lightly padded one, which I've seen recommended for bf. I was just about to click buy...

... when I saw the hug-a-bub, I've never imagined myself as the wraparound 'kind' of mum - always seemed over-elaborate and earth-motherish. However, I'm attracted to this one, because the stretch fabric seems to mean you don't need to re-tie it very time you take your baby in and out. It looks so super supportive and secure, I'm feeling very tempted...

Please help!

My first tip would be have a look at the Babywearers website as it is probably at great sourch of info. Secondly I have a tri-cotti which i breastfed in whilst pushing a buggy and it is fantastic in terms of comfort and ease of use but I reckon it is better in the cooler months. I am waiting on a Babyhawk from the states at the minute and will sell my tri-cotti at the end of the summer.

I've looked at babywearer.com. It was a bit dismissive of the tricotti along the lines of 'god choice for beginners ...'

I found the tricotti very good for between 4-8 months or so. Very convenient, but I wouldn't have it s my main sling.
