I think that could be the one! Certain it won't stay white for long but should be easy to wipe clean.

Or one of these from Argos - designed to go under the stairs, but would look OK just against the wall. (Or 2 of these - one upside-down on top of the other???)

ww, we had something like that from ikea. dead cheap, but wrong length for us, so ended up being waste of moeny , also, even though i sawed of the ends, because of the leggy bits holding them up, you cant actually get as many shoes in as you would think.

nab, i managed to get 65 quid off that price by looking for codes online, but i was just illustrating the fact that despite the fact that we got what we though t would work better, my lovely bin rescue shelves are the absolute best thing ever. they are still used way way more than the gltc one. i really think you should look around the charity shops.

my shelves from th ebin are i think these ones, but the top two bits may have been sawed off, as only three shelf bit remain. perfect for shoes, boots, wellies, umbrellas, mail, crap.....

Aha - have a look at IVAR

You would need 2 end pieces, 124 high x 30 deep, which are £5 each; then maybe 5 shelves, 83x30, at £4 each - that's £30 altogether; and a cross brace thing for the back at £2. The light wood is unfinished, but as the whole thing comes in pieces you could easily give it a coat of varnish, paint or stain; and it's completely adjustable, each shelf comes with 4 little metal supports which stick into the holes which run all the way up the uprights, so you could have even more shelves if the gaps are too wide.

The black parts are stained and lacquered already, so if black would be OK you wouldn't even have to worry about doing that!

Oh, the black ones only come in the tall size though, damn.

Sorry for the useless suggestion. I see La Redoute don't do furniture on their English site...

the john lewis one is really flimsy, ours used to collapse a lot. i've got very narrow hall and now have the gunmetal one (also in wendy's jl link). its good because you can just about fit boots in it, which can't in most racks.
