Is there such thing as a great big stick contraption that can open very high velux windows?

I've got 2 velux windows, one in our dining area and the other in the bathroom.
They have never been opened in all the time we have lived in this house, so about 2 years.
The bathroom one is more important as its the only window in there.

But because they're so high up you can't get them open. Not even step ladders get you high enough.

There must be something out there that would open them or people sensible enough to not have them fitted that high to start with?

lol at the fact that to find out which "rod" you need, you need to get the code off the window .

We have the same problem, new house 5 years ago and I have never opened the windows as too high (top floor windows are velux) I leave that job to dh..At 6ft he has to stand on the toilet seat to open the bathroon one...landing one I think gets opened on yearly occasions..!!

AND we never fitted them...bloody builders.

They can have automatic electrical openers fitted. (Called 'electric conversion kits - Velux stockists have them) They can also open and close the velux blinds.

Would a mop handle work, the ones that have a hook at the bottom for hanging them up.

We have the same problems with ours and unfortunetly the mop isnt tall enough.

oooo good idea about the mop handle.

Or what about those long pole window washer things - any chance of rigging something up with one of those?
