What on earth can I buy my 4 year old for her birthday next week?

She likes dolls, Barbie's, sylvanian families, Lego. But we have all that.

She's the youngest of three girls.

She has a hand me down bike and scooter.

I just can't think of anything.

HELP please!

My youngest DD is 4 tomorrow and she's youngest of 3 girls. Shes getting a golf set and gloves, kindle fire and case, paw patrol toy, clothes, scary soft toy thing, sash and headdress for her party.

I find she's pretty happy with anything sparkly and girly no matter how small/big expensive/cheap etc

AwakeNotThruChoice · 28/12/2024 22:46

She does also really love Little Live pets. Got a rabbit for her birthday in the summer and got a puppy for Christmas this year. (A mama surprise one!)

ArcheryAnnie · 28/12/2024 22:50

The good thing about a kid who has and likes lego is that they can always use more lego, and they just build bigger and better.

But honestly I wouldn't worry too much. Mine is now at university but I can remember as clear as day that his favourite "present" on his fourth birthday was a free tube map that I'd picked up at the tube station. I had paid actual money for actual presents but that was the thing he loved most.

Pamper session for a four year old? Jesus. Let's all perpetuate gender stereotypes why don't we?

It's what my niece asked for when she was turning 5 and my friends niece asked for it at 7! Both of them are the complete opposite now years later so I guess it didn't perpetuate anything

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 28/12/2024 23:37

Baking stuff and apron

xmaspomanon · 29/12/2024 06:59

@user1491396110 super space would be the dream but we have no room

@Wallawallakoala this Furbie thing looks right up her street.

@Greentomatoes21 a curvy wouldn't have crossed mind

@AwakeNotThruChoice that mamma animal toy is the big hit over Xmas in our house. They have them in Aldi too!

4 year old boy here. But we just bought him some of the playmobil Mars sets for Christmas that have been a hit

Also:
Magnatile micro mags - mini set in a tin version of magna tiles you can take to restaurants, relatives houses, on holiday as it’s compact

A torch, compass, binoculars - adventure kit type items.

toy wooden laptop. With chalkboard screen. Can play and practice letters and drawing

xmaspomanon · 29/12/2024 07:11

@Caspianberg she's had lovely binoculars for xmas which we are going to use today at Slimbridge.

Have a just ruined 5 yo with a Christmas birthday. Its a nightmare so you have my sympathies.

Yoto or activity would be my suggestion

xmaspomanon · 29/12/2024 07:16

@Caffeineneedednow I'm not mentally ready for in an influx of stuff or any more celebrations

Little live pets mama guinea pig or rabbit set. My kids were desperate a few years ago (at 4) and I thought they were going to be a one hit wonder, but they are played with all the time. We now have guinea pigs, rainbow guinea pigs and the rabbits. They use Magnet tiles to make new homes for them, the play kitchen to open pet restaurants. They are very loved

xmaspomanon · 28/12/2024 21:57

We love magnatiles too but have them.

But tiles & Lego L, Barbie's, sylvanian families, you can keep adding to, so you don't ever really 'have' them.

play doh
paper/pens/ glue/ paint etc all need constant replenishing.
how to draw (people/dog/horse/dinosaur) book
reading books
games
giant bubbles
fun bedding/curtains/bean bag/ cosy cushion
kits - my first cross stitch
Paint a large piece of wall in blackboard paint
pavement chalks
wendy house

4 year olds are great to buy for!!

NannyR · 29/12/2024 07:38

Another vote for magnatiles - you can never have enough!
Lego
Marble run, as previous poster said, get the Galt one, it's a fantastic toy for loads of reasons.

Dracarys1 · 29/12/2024 07:45

I second a yoto player. My 4 year old DS got one for Christmas and he has barely let it out of his sight since. It's good because they're small so don't take up much space and it grows with them in terms of the story cards you can buy. Would recommend x

xmaspomanon · 29/12/2024 08:14

@SnoopySantaPaws yes I agree we can keep adding to them but I'm worried it won't be that exciting I suppose to get more of the same. We will add to the Sylvanian families I think as I stashed some away at Xmas. All second hand of course. But those bloody families come with as many belongings as an actual human family. They need to go on Stacey Solomon's sort your life out show.

@17caterpillars1mouse that's how my kids play with the magnatiles. They are always houses for the farm animals or cry babies.

mitogoshigg · 29/12/2024 08:33

Kids telescope, bug hunting hit, first science experiments kit? Mine loved these things.

Galliano · 29/12/2024 08:37

Maileg mice in a box if she likes sylvanians?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

but as a kid (and 55yo woman) they're not 'more of the same' they're a new set, new clothes, new whatever and they are exciting!

my mum is overseas & gave me some money for Christmas. I'm toying between buying clothes which she would definitely approve of, something for 'the house' which she'd approve of & I would enjoy, putting it towards new sofas OR buying something I'd love (like gringots bank in Lego! Which she'd not think was the best use of it.). You can never have too much Lego, or Barbie bits, baby bits or whatever.

as you know they grow out of wanting toys so young these days. Im
all for indulging their love of toys while it lasts!!

What's your budget?

There are those monkeys that walk and talk and wobble and you feed them and put them to sleep and what not, but they're like £80.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=KoCiI7O5dm4

Or you can just do little bits (stickers, paints, playdoh, markers etc) and add to the stuff she already has.

Or something big but not as ridiculously priced like a dolls house or play kitchen.

Dextybooboo · 29/12/2024 18:35

I just thought as well the ispy books are great. Dd has really enjoyed doing those.
