Vinted - perfect revenge for dodgy seller

I recently got scammed on vinted. Stupid person had very deceptive photos of item, dishonest description. They sent me disgusting old jacket, that didn’t fit the description and deceptively didn't photograph flaws on jacket.

Stupid person denies it’s that bad (I won’t let my daughter wear it incase it has fleas). Seller is in the wrong and now not responding. In my hands to return in next few days.

Anyway, I can do two things to get revenge - help me out what’s better…:

  1. accept item, give shitty review but they will give me one too even though I am not at fault.
  2. Return a false item, like a toilet roll or picture of a middle finger 🖕🏾 or something stupid, then I keep the item/give to charity, get the money as I will deny her claim when vinted chase me. The idea of her chasing the admin satisfies me. No bad reviews left.

Before you judge me, please be kind. I am a decent person. I fucking hate people who cheat and scam others. I work f hard to give a beautiful life to my family and be honest in my day to day life. I believe bad people need to be taught a lesson.

Thank you for you opinion on the revenge method.

I don't know how it all works but I wouldn't take it personally, some people are shitty and you find many of them on selling sites unfortunately. I'd just quietly go through the usual complaint refund process. Life is too short to get involved with things that might raise your blood pressure.

Fizzywizzy2 · 23/12/2024 23:34

How much did you pay? I like option 2 but don't feel it's worth it if it was only a few pounds. Plus the bad review would affect them more/warn other people.

You’re right. I don’t want peace. I want problems and my blood is fucking boiling from scam sellers. I sent her so many photos, said I think you’ve made a ‘genuine mistake’ and she was so rude to me. People like this think they are above the ethics of the process.

I hear what you are saying, but we mustn't lead our lives based on soundbites from memes or trending videos (I don't want peace, I want problems). Just leave the revenge; you will honestly rile yourself up and bring on even more unwanted drama. Leave the blood boiling for different, significant issues.

TrollTheAncientYuletideCarol · 23/12/2024 23:46

Are you the person who posted about being scammed on Vinted in relation to a toiletry set as well? For this one, I would follow the complaints procedure, raise an issue, don't accept the item and send pictures of the damage and dirt to Vinted and ask for your money back. I did this and got my money back.

All other options are daft.

Why not just go through the process set out by Vinted and get on with your life? They tend to side with the buyer in the majority of disputes, so if you can prove with photos that the item is not as described, they'll force the seller to offer a return and you'll get a full refund.

I get that you're disappointed about the jacket, but it's Christmas Eve, people are stressed out and saying aggy stuff, and there's no point getting your blood pressure up over it, just rise above it.

Doing the right thing is ultimately what I’ll do.

it just annoyed me when someone lies, refuses to take responsibility or pay for the return. It means the buyer loses £5-£7 in delivery fees (there and back).

sorry just to add, with this stupid vinted rule where they make the buyer pay the return, means that they’re inadvertently encouraging sellers to sell shit, and not take accountability to sell responsible and be honest.

Yeah, I totally get that. It's misleading that Vinted offers 'buyer protection' which doesn't seem to actually offer buyer protection at all and it's not fair you're out of pocket.

Autumnblackberries · 24/12/2024 14:46

Issues like this mean eBay is still a better bet, especially now that they have matched vinted by abolishing clothes seller fees.
I hope vinted dies a death

Why not just not use it? There's nothing compulsory about using Vinted!

Screamingabdabz · 24/12/2024 15:51

How much did you pay? That makes the difference. If it was £5 let it go. See it as a charity donation to someone who clearly needs it. If it was a lot of money - recoup it through the vinted process and, caveat emptor, remember this is the big downside of Vinted for the future.
