I know Christmas is for families in general

So I’m single, spending Christmas on my own & was wandering around the supermarket today thinking why don’t they do meals for 1 person for Christmas, even a decent ready meal?

I saw a lovely dessert but said on the pack feeds 6, no way could I eat that, the meat is too big for one person, packs of veg would go to waste etc…I live in a shared house so cooking in general is a pain in the arse, I mainly live on sandwiches, soup or noodles as when I get home from work the kitchen is always hogged by another housemate & by the time they have finished I’m too tired to cook.

In the end I settled for a cottage pie, 2 pack of cheesecakes & a little prawn cocktail for starters.

I think more than anything it's because the market for them is likely to be reasonably small so it's not worth it financially for lots of retailers to produce.

M&S do a roast turkey dinner for one ready meal, I spotted that last week, although I don't know how nice it is.

Also had a quick google and found this from a butchers, which looks a bit nicer - more like a portioned up Christmas dinner than a ready meal - https://doweys.com/products/christmas-dinner-for-one?variant=524027396116. Obviously only local to them, but I wonder if you might have some luck seeing if local restaurants/butchers etc do something similar!!

I'm single and will often do a full roast for myself. Some chicken for later in the week with leftover sides, freeze the rest. Freeze excess gravy and make stock made with the carcass which is then frozen. Not quite the MN chicken...

There's loads of lovely Christmas nibbles you can buy and eat over a few days.

Lidl do individual Christmas puddings if you like those?

Would anyone in your house share be interested in doing a Christmas dinner with you doesn't matter if you or they celebrate or not

Lidl do meals for 1, trays that have meat, gravy, vegetables etc.

Small chicken crown could be roasted and leftovers used for sandwiches or a pack of 2 chicken breasts would be well sized for an individual. In the prepped veg section there are steam packs of broccoli, peas and suchlike that would work well, potatoes can be bought individually to slice up and make as many roast potatoes as you can eat.

Or pair up with someone in the shared house and make a meal together every now and then.

I don’t think anywhere would do the full range of Christmas food for 1 as there wouldn’t be the demand for it, but plenty of places do individual starters, desserts and small packs of veg and smaller meat portions.
