glasses in dishwasher

Hi, hope someone can help me. Have just taken delivery of my new indesit BDF221 dishwasher. The top shelf has spaces each side for glasses/mugs and then a dip where you can lay sharp knives etc. It has a lid over the top of the shelf which can be lifted to accommodate taller items. However NONE of my glasses will stay on this shelf and just fall down into the dip and either smash or wobble around. The shelf has little raised lumps on it but they are not tall enough to "hook" the glass on. Each time you pull the shelf out the glasses wobble and fall. I spoke to indesit but they said it was my glass size. Surely a pint glasses are all the same size? Can anyone help before I break all my glasses and end up drinking out of a mug! Has turned out to be an expensive buy as we need new cutlery as well as mine is all too big to fit in the slots in the cutlery holder!

Surely something has to be fit for its purpose? Have you tried Which? personal service? Trading standards? Ask to speak to their customer relations manager and tell them that will be your next port of call.

With regard to cutlery - you can probably take the grid thing off the cutlery basket - as I too had that problem. Well i took the grid off half the basket so can still put folks in then just put the knifes in the open compartments.

With your glasses - are there spikes elsewhere on that drawer you could put your glasses on to stop them falling over?

Thanks Furball have now took the lid off the basket and cutlery now fits. Easy when you know how! No there are no other bits for glasses, bottom shelf has usual plate racks. The top does appear to be the right place just the grooves/ridges are not high enough to actually hold a glass they just slip. 2Sugars I hadn't thought of it like that but yes I guess it isn't really fit for purpose if you cannot put glasses in it. Am going to go to John Lewis this weekend where we bought it with a selection of my glasses (will look like a mad woman but don't care!) and see what they say.
