Can anyone answer this dishwasher question please?

We've never had a dishwasher but we're moving house shortly where there is a space for one.
What I would like to know is,are they just as easy to plumb in and similar to a washing machine,or am I likely to need to get someone in to do it?
Also, are there any good things in particular I need to look for when choosing one?

Thanks.

Read This - tis quite easy - similar to washing machine.

My top tips would be aeg are owned by electrolux, so if you fancy one go for cheaper name. and bosch are now owned by zanussi so ditto.

personally we've bought cheapo zanussi and been very happy with them.

If you want quality then Miele is your man.

i didnt do ours, wotkmen did but i did read instrution book and it is the same as my washing machine except it only has cold water going in whereas my washing machine has hot and cold. So easy one pipe in and waste pipe out.

You just need to connect the water and waste. if the plumbing's already there it should be easy enough to do yourselves.
Often hen you buy a dishwasher the cost of connecting it is included in the price.

Excellent-thanks very much.

Dh is quite capable of plumbing the washing machine in,so I think he'll be able to manage the dishwasher aswell.
The plumbing is already there,so hopefully it should be a doddle.

Check that the top rack is high enough to fit plates under on the bottom rack and the washer arm still goes round ours isn't and it is a complete PITA - is a BOSCH one by the way!

We've had our Zanussi for 5 years and never had any trouble with it, despite two house moves in that time.

Thanks Twinkie1-that's interesting to know, especially as Bosch are meant to be quite good.
The gap is only small enough for a slimline one so I probably won't be able to get loads in there, although I'm sure it'll be a big help as I always seem to be washing up.

Twinkie1 - just check you haven't got 'height adjustable baskets' the last three (albeit not slimeline) did so if you do have big plates you can lift the top basket up a few inches.
