DD outgrowing much loved bouncer - what next?

My DD (8 months) is now up to the weight limit of her much loved vibrating bouncer - in fact she fell out of in on saturday when she was supposed to be sleeping and decided to climb out of it instead. She uses it for naps every day and can rock herself to sleep in it with a few leg kicks. We also use it for some mealtimes as for some reason she is very easily distracted in her high chair and tends to eat much less when not in her bouncer.

My question is what can I use as a comfy chair for naps, relaxing after meals etc from now on. the only thing I have seen is the fisher price infant to toddler rocker. Does anyone have one - are they any good?

inflatable play nests are nice like this one although perhaps not for sleeping in...

you could do the inflatable ring but start taking your dd to bed for her naps if poss.

get her a swing

freakypenguin · 29/04/2008 16:07

agree it might be good to get her to have naps in her cot.

I ended up using the car seat and she will let me feed her and also she is strapped in properly if 'I have to go to the loo etc. She escaped from her bouncy chair a while ago by tipping it and crawled out

Don't want to use the cot for naps to be honest - want to instill the thinking that the cot is for bed which is working at the moment as she self settles herself to sleep at night in about two minutes and sleeps for 11 hours. Also want her to he able to nap anywhere so if we are out and about she can nap in her buggy or on someones sofa. We have a inflatable ring but have never used it - she sits by herself really well so haven't needed to use it to protect her from toppling.

She loves bouncing by herself so much and will happily babble away to her toys that I wanted some form of bouncer for her to progress into. Her napping in it is really a bonus as she will generally fall asleep anywhere.

We also have a Graco swing - although she seems to be rapidly outgrowing that too!

ds1 bounced so hard in his bouncer & broke it at 4 months & it was'nt cheap so broug him a hop n pop which he loved & now ds2 loves it also. you can get a think which i have no idea what its called but i think perfectly happy people sell them & they are like a bean bag type think but can be used from birth have a little belt on them to keep them in. if you do go for a ring i am selling one with the arch & dangly toys. email is [email protected] if you are intrested.

We had the same issue so we bought one of these

DD loves it although she has now decided that she doesn't want to go to sleep in it but goes to sleep in her cot instead DD can make it rock by kicking her legs just like she used to with the bouncer.
