Need pans for induction hob

I didn’t realise I needed special pans for an induction hob. My new hotpoint cooker arrives tomorrow and it’s got an induction hob on.
Will it invalidate my Warranty or accidental damage insurance if I don’t use certain branded pans on the induction hob?
Are there any Black Friday deals on a new pan set?

You can use any brand of pan as long as it’s suitable for induction. I’ve got a mix of brands. Some of yours might work - you can try a magnet on the base to find out. Le Creuset work.

IKEA do some great pans for induction at a good price.

Always look at the base of the pan, some suitable for induction have lots of small circles/dots on the base and they’re not as good as a solid induction base ime; they work but take much longer to heat up.

You don't have to use certain brands, but if your existing pans aren't made of conductive material, they just won't work.

I second the suggestion of Ikea or TKMaxx/Homesense (check the labels - not all the cheaper pans are induction-friendly).

You can also get converter pads to put between non-induction pans and the hob, but I think they are less efficient.

I had a converter plate and found whilst it worked it was very slow. I got irritated by it as I had quickly become used to the speed of induction. It was good though for keeping a glass coffee pot warm.
