Trampolines - are they worth it?

DP is quite keen to get DD a 6ft trampoline with a net for her 2nd birthday. Now, normally we wouldn't dream of spending such a lot on her, but DP's take is that it would be nominally for her birthday present but really a good investment to have for the coming years and coming children.

He's found quite a good deal he says - £70 for a 6ft + net.

She would certainly use it a lot now and love it. I'm just a bit at the idea of spending £70 on a child's birthday present. Especially if it's something she'll grow out of or get bored with.

Thoughts?

hell yes
6ft too small

we have a 14 footer and expect to last until the Fragrant boys are too interested in self-love to really leave their rooms

LIZS · 26/04/2008 17:33

6ft really isn't very big.

Trampolines are fab.

We go one a couple of years ago and it is the best thing we have ever bought for the children.

We have a 12' spring free with enclosure. I would not go for a springy one - too noisy and less safe, and smaller jumping area.

Yes! Used nearly every day. We have a 12ft one. It does take up a lot of garden but the garden is taken over by dc anyway. They love it.

TurkeyLurkey · 26/04/2008 17:53

I'd invest in a bigger one now to be honest. At 6ft its not going to be big enough for her to go on with a friend without banging heads.

We have a 14ft one and its the best money we've spent.

hotppotmama · 26/04/2008 18:04

We have an 10ft with net and its definitely the best present we ever bought DS. Is used all the time by all the kids on the close too.

Great exercise for them too!

BroccoliSpears · 26/04/2008 18:13

I'm obviously a tight wad!

I thought a 6ft was extravagant and ott!

Will show DP this thread - he'll be delighted.

at that age we just got dd a TP one with a handle .

BottlebinBerrie · 26/04/2008 18:35

DD got one with a handle for her 2nd birthday and she wasn't brave enough to boince properly for ages. She's 2years 7 months now and we've got it out and she LOVES it. I think 2 might be too little for a big one. I'd buy a handle one for £15 and get a proper big one when she is older. Ds who is 4 still has lots of fun on the handle one but is ready to move on now.

BroccoliSpears · 26/04/2008 18:47

She has a handle one and adores it. Almost bounces off it. And she's often been on bigger ones and loves them too - she's a bouncy child! (Perhaps she's part kangaroo?)

we have a 12 foot (I think) - have had it a year and it is definitely one of the things my boys use most often.

6 foot is small - but probably ok for one child.

They don't seem to get bored with them - so you consider it a longer term investment - like a bike maybe.
