We have just finished decorating our bedroom and i think the wallpaper looks too dark.
It's this one www.treehouseinteriors.com/detail.asp?id=2184

We have had a pair of mauve silk curtains to match the paper.

Our furniture is very pale oak.

Just really disapointed that it looks a bit dark and think i should have chosen a paper with a lighter background.

Have been looking for a new paper which will still matches(ish) the curtains.

What do you think?

Any ideas????

Could you live with it for a couple of months and then see what you think? It might just be the "newness" of it. And since you spend most time in bedrooms when it IS dark, you may well get used to it!!!

you could always paint over a wall or two with a lighter shade, but as janeite suggests perhaps wait and see if you feel differently once you get used to it...

nobodysfool · 26/04/2008 15:50

The paper is only on one wall and the rest are painted the same as the background colour.
I really think i need to change it.Shame as i really like the paper.

just lighten the walls then ?

youknownothingofthecrunch · 26/04/2008 15:53

If that'st he case I agree with MM, paint the other walls a lighter complimentary shade - or just a cream. The other walls do not need to be the same shade as the feature wall.

yes I'm with janeite

stick with it for a bit it might go a bit boudoir

nobodysfool · 26/04/2008 15:59

Great idea.
How about really pale mauve/lavender on the walls?
Would that work?
Wish i had chosen a paler colour to start with. It's so hard finding a pale background paper with mauve/purple detail!

Do you have any of the paint left? You could always mix it with some white paint to give the same shade but paler.

I think a pale lavender would work well (but do check it matches nicely)

janeite · 26/04/2008 16:22

Mixing with white is a good idea!

nobodysfool · 26/04/2008 17:54

Right then when can you both come round and do it?
