Recommend your washing machine

I'm in Ireland but still probably have the same Range available. We've extended our house so for the first time ever i will be buying an under counter washing machine (all my others were integrated so I was very limited) and ... I'm so excited... a proper actual dryer. What do you recommend? Family of 5.
What size drum/kg? Are there any disadvantages to getting a machine that can take a bigger load?
I would like one very short cycle (15/20 mins) if possible for rinsing out swimwear etc.

What about dryers? Anything to get or avoid?

Samsung eco bubble with the honeycomb drum.

I recommend that you swerve the shitty Indiset washing machine throat I have as it is forever screech beeping at me that it has a random error. Which always disappears when it's turned off and doesn't come back for a couple of weeks.

My neighbour has the same machine as I can hear her bastard machine screech beeping all night as she starts a load before she goes to bed.

That I have - not throat

I had an AEG last which was great - never had any issues with it until I unbalanced the drum and made it give up the ghost (oops!!!)

I replaced it with an LG, washing functions all work fine and I like the machine, my only complaint is that all the normal washes have this annoying AI thing on them which weighs the clothes and tells you how long it wants to take which it won't then let you adjust manually.

I used to like with my old one that I could let it do a long, slow, eco-friendly wash taking 3-4 hours for less electricity, or shorten it down to about 90 mins. The standard wash on my new one is about 60-90 mins depending on whether I've selected the intensive thing or not but if the load is already wet, I have to mess around taking most of it out and getting it to re-weigh then shoving everything back in or it assumes it's washing 5x as many clothes and wants to take 4 hours (but with about 4x the electricity cost too).

Also, I miss the 50C wash - 40 sometimes feels a bit cool, but 60 feels too hot. I didn't notice it didn't have an in between one.

It has an app and you can download different cycles but these seem completely pointless - I've never used them because it overrides the rinse and spin cycle (of all the cycles to override???) and I could download that one back again but what a faff.

Good things to look for IMO - Direct Drive is worth it (it means the drum turns with magnets, not bands - extends the life of the machine, but also lets it turn in more sudden ways which is useful for some of the wash cycles).

Also like the function that I can pause it to add an extra forgotten sock or something. And the app tracks the energy/water use per cycle which I liked for getting an idea of what cycles are good for what. But we moved house in September and I haven't bothered to reconnect it to the wifi yet.

For a dryer, I've never had a dryer before and I got a heat pump one from Beko. I absolutely love it and think it is brilliant. I have only one complaint which is that it has an anti-crease function which means it does 1 tumble every 5 mins after it finishes for 2 hours and you can't turn this off except to press the off button manually every time - this is annoying but minor really.

TBH both of them are incredibly quiet and I am really pleased with them.

We have 3 DC (16, 6, 3) and I think the WM is 8kg and dryer 7kg. I could have gone for bigger really, but it keeps up with us no issues at all. Do check the depth when going for bigger drums. I think the only downside of a bigger drum is you end up with a bigger pile of washing to fold Grin
