iCandy Cherry/Apple product flaw; is this not a problem for everyone who owns one??

Was just about to purchase the iCandy Cherry today for baby due in four weeks and asked the assistant for a final demo.

When she demonstrated how the pushchair seat reclines, I was really disappointed to see that the entire seat tilts back so the baby will in fact end up lying with its legs in the air. Like being in a dentist chair.

I asked if this was usual and assistant told me that Quinny, Bugaboos and all the trendier, new urban travel systems are like this.

This is crazy. I hate to think about a toddler yet alone a four month old baby sleeping with his/her legs in the air for any length of time. Surely this is not good for their young spines or comfortable either.

Has this presented a problem for anyone using these systems? I'm really peed off because it's back to the drawing board for me now as I need to find another system. I think this is a case of the manufacturer's cutting corners for the sake of style.

Or is it me?????

I think they're mostly like that - I have a Hauck Infinity and it is the same thing.

But the advice is to use the lie-flat pram (at more cost of course) until six months or so - that's what we did with the Hauck. If there isn't one to go with the Cherry, then I personally wouldn't get it, for all the reasons you've said.

After that, it doesn't seem to be so much of an issue, certainly dd could sleep in a much more sitting-up position then.

I had an old style mamas and papas, which is heavier and bulkier, yet the back did recline away from the seat so DD could sleep straight. I think they are still out there but not so lightweight.

I know kids sleep anywhere and my first DD only had a Maclaren Quest from 4 months, which did us okay (it didn't even recline back much), but I like to think that when you're out and about for a day they can have their two hours afternoon sleep without thinking their legs are up in the air!

The Cherry pushchair is for 6 mo + - it comes with a lie flat carry cot for from birth. dd sleeps in the buggy very comfortably now (is 10mo) - it's a good pushcair but we've had a faulty wheel a couple of times and I've read on here of other people having problems.

To be honest we ended up mostly using the sling when she was tiny. Another time I wouldn't buy a pushchair until I'd met my baby - this one much preferred and prefers the sling!

Also have a mammas and papas. I like the range of seating positions plus the carseat and pram attachments. Agree its a bi heavy or handling but IMO more comfortable and cheaper than the Bugaboo. Haven' tried iCandy -sounds a bit weird.

Hi. My mum is a childminder and looks after a baby who has a icandy apple I think it is? The one that can be a 3 wheeler and then you can seperate the wheels to make a 4 wheeler. I have a bugaboo for my DD and I pushed the icandy a few times and my god how heavy was it! I could barely steer it, god knows what it would be like with a toddler in. The suspension was very good but the whole thing was too heavy. I know what you mean about the seat position though. My Bugaboo does this but it's not too bad. The Bug is so much more lighter and easier to steer. Go for a Bugaboo!!!

had apple sold it and got bugaboo. Best pram choice ever. Love it!
