MT much better ime, and will last longer. i have two Toddlerhawks (DS is nearly 2), and DH and I both love them. Much funkier patterns too.

taczilla · 21/04/2008 20:09

thanks anyone else? as i imagine i am not the only one beginning to start looking at all the options. are most versions of the mei tai a variation on the one theme as some on ebay are quite inexpensive ?

They do vary in quality, and in comfort. The great thing is that if you buy second hand (most people sell through the Yahoo group), if you don't get on with that particular one you can just sell it again for much the same amount.

taczilla · 21/04/2008 20:28

thanks again can you point me in the direction of a yahoo group as i don't know what to look for.

I've just ordered to ToddlerHawks for DD and DS and I'm sooooooo ludicrously excited about getting them delivered. They look really comfy, and with the dollar being quite weak at the mo you can get them custom made and delivered from the USA for about the same cost as an off-the-peg one from the UK.

With a 6 month old you should be able to use one of their babyhawks (rather than a toddlerhawk) for a long time, esp if you get one with a head-rest.

CeilingCat · 21/04/2008 20:59

here's the babyhawk website btw

cmotdibbler · 21/04/2008 21:03

I forgot to ask what designs you ordered CC ? My custom is black with blue asian dragon and sapphire opulence, and the TTTH is purple/purple sakura and khaki/kimono cathedral windows

somebodyhelpme · 21/04/2008 21:03

I have got both, and my ergo is very unused, theres no comparison in ease of use in my opinion! I have 5 different mt's, and the best is the babyhawk, which I got cheaply from the yahoo site, its fab!

CeilingCat · 21/04/2008 21:11

Yours sound lovely!!Don't you think they should have a gallery on their website?

One of mine is black with black cavaleras (the spanishy looking 'skulls') and a red minkee lining, and the other is red with the red 'mille fleur' and a choc brown minkee lining.

cmotdibbler · 21/04/2008 21:14

ooh - those sound lovely. The minkee is so gorgeous, but I like the variety of a choice of patterns. DS has Blueberry nappies now, so I get a minkee fix from those !

somebodyhelpme · 21/04/2008 21:18

whats a minkee lining? my babyhawk is just chocolate straps, with a flowery pattern on one side, would love another, but not sure what to go for

CeilingCat · 21/04/2008 21:19

lol - you have no idea how torn I was between the option of minkee or reversible. Maybe I should have done one of each >

Do you know how much bigger the TH is than the babyhawk? I only realised recently that the babyhawk can carry up to 40lbs (which would probably cover my skinny little DCs for a looooong time lol).

CeilingCat · 21/04/2008 21:22

Here's what they say about minkee:

"That incredibly soft and cuddly fabric is Minkee Blankee! I can line any of the patterns with minkee for an additional cost of $10. It is truly the softest fabric you will have ever felt! It is perfect for the winter weather or if you live in a cool climate! I live in Southern California and it is fine for warm weather also. ( I wouldn't recommend wearing it in the desert, though!) You cannot get the lining with a reversible pattern."

somebodyhelpme · 21/04/2008 21:27

ok so do they get sweaty? and is it really that soft?

CeilingCat · 21/04/2008 21:30

I'll keep you posted on that (am still a minkee virgin).

cmotdibbler · 22/04/2008 08:36

I think the TH is 6cm taller than the BH - my problem was that in my FBS MT, DS kind of flopped over backwards when asleep, wheras in the TH I can position him well down in it to sleep comfortably. You can scoot them up by folding the waistband over, or just not getting them so far down and using the lexi to make a secure hold at that point, much as you would in a pod.

Minkee is really beautifully soft, and I don't think it would be sweaty as its like a long haired fleece - so in fact would probably let sweat wick away nicely.

taczilla · 22/04/2008 17:12

Saw someone today wearing a babyhawk and I had a try simple to use. Loved it immediately so that solved the problem of getting to try before buying. Thank you all.
