I was given a huggababy sling and have recently started wearing it. It hurts my shoulder!! I can't figure out what i am doing wrong. Have put it on correctly according to online videos i can find and i am putting ds3 into it correctly. HE is comfortable at least.

Is the material coming right up to your neck and down your arm ? The ring should be at corsage level - ie just under your collar bone, and the baby should be above your waist.

Shoulder pain is usually due to not spreading the material out enough ime

thats where it is. the ring isn't hurting me, its where i would put a corsage. There is nothing to spread either, its padded so really shouldn't hurt! I feel like the weight of him (and he is only 10lb odd) is being pulled over one shoulder.

Baby above waist as well, lying across stomach. (he is 6.5 weeks)

Hmmm. I had a conventional ring sling which allowed you to spread the weight out a bit more, and I carried in it till DS was 27lb or so.
Have you got it on the tip of your shoulder ?

had one of these slings & could never get it on right. I got a baby bjorn instead and it was much more comfortable. I did use the huggababy whn dd was newborn & sort of held her in it.

I have it in all kinds of places on my shoulder but my shoulders are just not that wide! On the school run today i had it as central as i could but it still hurt.
Maybe i am just not compatible with that sling?
I have got a baby bjorn but ds3 needs carrying alot and it puts too much pressure on my breasts which i am sure contributed to mastitis

have you got the right size? If it was given to you perhaps it is not suitable for your shape?

I looked here and it clearly states different sizes

MerlinsBeard · 21/04/2008 10:22

oooh i don't know...will go see if i can find a size.

not everyone gets on with the same types of sling. I find ring slings rather hard to get along with, but will try again when I have my next baby.

MerlinsBeard · 21/04/2008 10:24

mmm i can't find a size on it. maybe thats it

don't feel stupid! I find then deceptively difficult - they look very simple but I just cannot use it comfortably. I much prefer symmetrical slings.
