how does the jane matrix car seat perform as a upright seat rather than lie flat?

i am thinking ahead again. i admit i am panicign a bit as so much time was spent last time at harefield, and the time before at local hospital with dh being ill so am thinking of those practicalties as well.

how does the jane matrix fare in crash tests as a normal car seat rather than lie flat carrycot in the car? is it ok?

I think it did OK from memory, I know with it lying flat it was crap.

Though if you haven't already, check that it goes in your car, we had a Picasso when we were last looking at them and it wouldn't even physically fit in that, they are huge, even when in the sitting up position.

I loved the Matrix as a lie down car seat for both DD1 and DD2, we never really used it as an upright for DD1 until she was quite a bit older and then it was OK (very fidly to put in and out though) for DD2 we didn;t have a car big enough to use as a lie down along with DD1 and her car seat and to be honest I thought it was crap - not enough support for a baby's head, didn;t feel secure int he car so we went out and bought a Maxi Cosi as soon as we could. The MC is so much easier to get in and out, is far more stable and lies back more whereas the JM in the upright position was far too upright for my liking.
