Title says it all really, does this exist or do I have to spend a fortune?

no. the white IKEA one is about 10-15 quid. fits under a table or you can buy a removal tray table. also has an inflatable insert to prop baby up.

it has no creases or joins or too many holes to fill up with crud, wipes clean easily and has a simple harness/strap

Monkeybird · 19/04/2008 13:38

see they all said it before me!

MrsTittleMouse · 19/04/2008 13:40

Another vote for the Ikea - if the worst comes to the worst then you can take it out into the garden and hose it down.

HonorMatopoeia · 19/04/2008 13:40

Ooo, ikea one sounds good, someone said the legs poke out quite a long way though? I don't have a lot of space, would it fit in the kitchen without tripping everyone up? Sorry monkeybird, can you buy a removable tray for it or would it be a generic removable tray iyswim?
Cod - ??????!!!!!!!

I raced into this thread, delighted to have the answer.

You all got there before me.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/04/2008 13:41

Is the IKEA one too flimsy? I've used these in cafes etc and they seemed OK.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/04/2008 13:41

oops, I typed this about five minutes before hitting post!

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 13:44

you buy the tray separately(about £3) I think and the cushion if you want one. It seems very sturdy to me. The legs stick out only about 10-15 degrees from the perpendicular. My friends one did her through 4 kids. It takes up less space than a traditional cheap mothercare type folding one but you can't fold it. It can be dismantled though.

Monkeybird · 19/04/2008 13:44

Honor you have to buy it separately from the chair but it is actually designed for it IYSWIM...

and ikea have 21% off today don't they?

MrsTittleMouse · 19/04/2008 13:46

The tray (sold separately) is theoretically removable, however, I think that you either need "the knack" or muscles like Popeye. We never bothered taking it off. The legs are removable too, so it can be transported in the car really easily.
I can't remember how far the legs came out though. To be honest, you want them to stick out a fair bit, an active toddler can tip over a high chair if they don't.

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 13:46

HonorMatopoeia · 19/04/2008 13:47

Thank you ladies, that sounds like the one I need then.
Now, to persuade DH he wants to get anywhere near Ikea and chance their stock availability!!

castille · 19/04/2008 13:47

Agree the legs don't stick out any more than other highchairs, and not as much as you'd think by looking at the photo. It's not flimsy at all.

No contest.

kayzisexpecting · 19/04/2008 13:47

here

My mum has it for when she has ds.

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 19/04/2008 13:48

there is a knack, you pop it upwards from the front lip. it's actually very easy. another vote for the antilop here.

kayzisexpecting · 19/04/2008 13:48

I am too slow!

msappropriate · 19/04/2008 13:48

tray removal gets much easier after a few weeks, now I don't even think its hard. I go for the pulling one corner off in a sort of diagonal movement technique

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 19/04/2008 13:48

oh, also you can test them out in the cafe first if you're unsure.
