How much would you pay including postage?

What would you like to see on them? I am trying to steer clear of the teddies, giraffes, mice, rabbits, dogs, snakes, diggers, cars, trains, planes, helicopters, pirates, monsters, skeletons, camouflage, grafitti, skull and bones, skateboard, surfer, football, army stuff which most people seem totally fed up of.

So far my ideas are:

lorries,
cement mixers,
monkeys,
sharks,
lizards,
crocodiles,
hippos,
rhinos,
dinosaurs,
zebras,
tigers,
lions,
insects,
bugs,
cowboys,
whales,
aliens,
spacehips,
astronauts,
rockets,
boats,
campervans

Am i along the right lines with these sort of things or are people not keen on these either? Would be helpful if you could put yes or no next to each one whether you like that sort of stuff on your kids clothes or not.

Also what colours? I am thinking
red,
yellow,
orange,
purple,
pink,
turquoise?

That list sounds quite boy-oriented, but from the colours pink and purple I presume you're aiming at girls too?

How about some more 'cuddly' animals eg pandas, koalas, lemurs?

Would pay about £5 if I really liked the design.

nappyaddict · 18/04/2008 23:58

oh yes pandas and koalas a good idea. i tried to pick unisex things cos i know how much mums of girls tend to hate all the heart, flowers, butterflies, fairies and glitter.

My 5 year old loves them though

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 00:05

well i would probably do them to order anyway so could do pretty much whatever people wanted.

OP posts:
schmoopoo · 19/04/2008 00:06

Have you thoughth about adding anmes as well if doing them to order ??

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 00:07

no i hadn't.... i have never seen tshirts with people's names on tbh. do you think people would like that sort of thing?

OP posts:
schmoopoo · 19/04/2008 00:11

Not sure you could ask onhere. A few of my DS friends have football shirts with their names on them

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 00:13

well it's something to think about.

i was going to do some summery beach type ones aswell with

starfish,
lobsters,
crabs,
octopus,
fishes,
tortoises etc

schmoopoo · 19/04/2008 00:16

They sound good. How about icecream cones, sandcastles, buckets and spades

gigglewitch · 19/04/2008 00:23

so tis Friday Night is Nappyaddict Survey Night

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/04/2008 00:29

My boys would probably love a tshirt with a really authentic anatomically correct close up of a scary spider or other large insect! All the others they have are cartoony or drawing type thing. Wouldn't pay more than a fiver though.

Have you got ladybirds on your list? I quite fancy a t shirt for them (I like them in matching ) with a little line of ladybirds wandering across it and around the back.

Regarding names, I was going to knit ds1 a jumper with his name on and my mum said 'oh no no no you can't do that these days' as paedos then know the childs name and the child doesn't realise they read it off the jumper and thinks this person must be a friend of daddy's etc.

hana · 19/04/2008 00:49

growing up (in 70/80s) tshirt transfer places were v v popular - you could pick from literally hundreds of designs, and then add your name too. Loved it. would never cross my name about having dds name on a tshrit that it would be A Bad Thing

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 18:37

Hmmm I think the name thing on clothes went out in the 70's when people thought peado would befriend children more easily by calling their names, I have no evidence to base that on though but it's stuck in my mind for some reason.

KatieDD · 20/04/2008 23:24

Sorry Flibberty just realised i've repeated your post

flipflopper · 21/04/2008 14:12

My 3yo ds would love brightly coloured t-shjirts with things like you have suggested on, esp insects spiders, bugs dinosaurs, crocodiles, etc anything he can scare people with!
Vehicles like diggers mixers or buses would be great too he lurves buses and trains!
Colours I would like to see are red, turquoise, purple, yellow, green, bright blue.
Am really sick of sludgey grey, brown, khaki etc for boys.
Would love to see something quite simple, just a nice bright t-shirt with a picture on, no writing, badges anything else OTT.

I would pay £5-7 for one inc postage

nappyaddict · 31/07/2008 00:17

had totally forgot about this idea!!

fancy making ds one with a frog, spider, bumblebee, ladybird or bus on. will let you know how it turns out.

To me the it would depend on the style of the illustration.

nappyaddict · 31/07/2008 02:58

ooooh maybe i'll do one with a worm on ...

matildax · 31/07/2008 03:21

nappyaddict, dont underestimate the power of the plaine white t shirt, imo it works really well, with brightly coloured designs!!
girls t shirts could include, balloons, kites etc.. in either candy colours, or mega bright.
my daughter also loves owls, ladybirds.crowns and wands.
also another idea could be large crayons in different colours, as this would appeal to both girl and boy.
i love some of your ideas for boys, and if i loved the design, i would pay around five pounds also.
hth xx

matildax · 31/07/2008 03:25

*plain oops!! (tis very late, and my spelling is tired also!!! lol

ninedragons · 31/07/2008 06:51

You may find etsy.com better than ebay - your listing stays live for (I think) three months, and the fees are lower.

I have bought transfer t-shirts for DD on etsy, so people definitely buy them.

ninedragons · 31/07/2008 07:01

It may be a good idea to do babygros as well as t-shirts. DD got given hundreds when she was born.

What about transfers of those old wind-up tin toys, like robots and penguins [sorry, question mark key buggered]

JanieK · 31/07/2008 20:32

You could do other things like plain white cotton bibs or matching caps for the tshirts with transfers on them or slogans. Some websites charge a fortune for these things.

QuintessentialShadows · 31/07/2008 20:39

Make a few for yourself, see how many times you can wash it before it is faded away. THEN work out what to do if your customers complain.....
