DD desperate for a Nintendo DS, we've put her off again and again and we've got to the point where all but 4 in their class of 30 have them now, so will cave in to get one for her 6th birthday.

So, what is a DS?
How does it differ from a DS Lite?
What do they DO?
What do I need apart from the console?

I'm a tech-pleb! Have no idea at all, so if anyone can help or point me to a decent online guide that would be fabbo

Thanks in advance!

Nintendo DS and DS lite are handheld games consoles.
The DS is the older version of the DS lite. The lite version is smaller and easier to hold, and this is what is available everywhere now.

They have a pen that comes with them and you can play games on them using the touch screen

You can buy just the console and a game or two and that would be it. there are so many games out there for them its impossible to list.

You can buy bundles for them which include the console and a few games for example

My nephews have got them (7 and 4) and they love them...

Good luck and I hope that helps.

Cooking mama (one and two)
Baby pals
and
Nintendogs
are easy ones to start off with. These are my 5 year olds favourites.

There are some good games for girls, you should check what her friends are playing and get one of the same. Be warned, it's addictive so she may stop talking to you!

ooooooooh sounds tempting avenanap

aaah for a few hours peace and quiet!

(before all MN get freaked out about limitations on screen time, I am saying this in jest!)

Thanks for the game choices too bluenosesaint
