I need you lovely ladies to help me find the best Double Pushchair/buggy?

I'm currently pg with DC5 and will need a double pushchair when he/she is born

I have used one before with DS2 and DS3 but i bought a fairly cheap one and it was crap and i've told DP that i refuse to buy another awkward one as i walk everywhere and can't cope with another crap one!!

So i need help I won't need it for that long really as DS3 will be 2.5yrs when baby is born but is it worth splashing out on something like a P&T or not? I'd like something fairly lightweight, easy to fold and also something that could be pushed one handed for when DS2 wants to hold my hand

Am i asking the impossible? please help me!

hana · 16/04/2008 15:09

jane powertwin

tassisssss · 16/04/2008 15:12

another vote for the nipper...my dd will be 21 months when next baby is born and i've just picked up a second hand nipper on ebay. couldn't afford a P&T and dd is a great wee walker so hopefully won't need it for long. The nipper seems fab.

fleximum · 16/04/2008 15:12

I'd vote for Jane Powertwin as well. Not cheap but really easy to use, folds up smaller than our single buggy and can push with one hand whilst chasing ds1.

bobsyouruncle · 16/04/2008 15:14

I used a graco duosport twin and loved it. Lightweight so easy to push and get up kerbs (I'm a weakling) and very easy to fold. I sold it to a childminder and she likes it too. I didn't use mine for that long and think lots of people are the same, so buying one secondhand may be a good idea. Mine was like new when I sold it.

i've just got a mountain buggy but also have a p&t its hard to choose but i think i prefer the mb as i find it much better to push one handed.

Don't get an iCandy pear - awful, awful, awful!

ingridwel · 19/04/2008 20:02

Hello,

I have the iCandy Pear and I picked over the Phil & Teds E3 and the Jane power twin for a number of reasons.

All though I cant have both of my children facing me at the moment I can have my toddler facing me and I find it very important at the moment as my Mum always insists that your baby speaks a lot sooner when they are facing you.

The second important reason is I can have my new born in the carry cot which is a completely flat based therefore protecting the growth of her spine for those vital first few months.

The seat units are smaller than a standard stroller but they are bigger than Bugaboo, Phil and Teds and the Jane Powertwin. My local stockist showed me a diagram which clearly shows the dimensions of each seat unit and the iCandy Pear won.

The weight is fine to push and I was initially alarmed as I read that it could be up to 20kg but my retailer informed me that I have to take the top half off to fold it making the max weight I have to lift in to the car between 8-10kg. I had a C-section so I need to be very careful how much I lifted but the chassis weight was fine.

The iCandy Pear is not the cheapest twin but I can use one of the seat units as a single stroller which really turns this in to a sound investment. We hope to try for one more- then that?s it!!- and as the iCandy Pear seems to be soundly built I am sure I will get many more years out of it.

I don?t really know what else to say except to be very clinical about what you need a twin travel system to do for you as its not just about what looks good and easy to use for you, but what is best for your children.

Good luck

Ingrid.

oh flaming nora, can I barge on too please?

does anyone have any views on the firstwheels city twin?

here?

I wanted one that could act as a double for a wee while and the a single once dd2 a bit older, she will be 2.2 when dc3 born

was looking at p&t and icandy pear - as they can both be used as a single but am not sure and can't get a local shot of either

has anyone seen this one, looks fab!

soom twin

would have this in a flash - look at all the combos but dh thinks its far too long

fairy15 · 19/04/2008 20:52

my next door neighbour has the firstwheels one has to build it up outside her house as it won't go through the front dor & won't fit out the back gate. not sure how she finds it though but i do smile when i come out of my door with my p&t or mb that i don't have to do that when its raining!

dizzydixies · 19/04/2008 21:05

crosses that off list!!
