Might be a dumb question but does hand sanitizer and nail varnish remover class as "rubbing alcohol" because I have those two just not rubbing alcohol itself?

You can use a bit of warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush if you don’t have rubbing alcohol — just make sure to dry everything properly afterwards! I’d avoid anything too harsh, especially if you’re not sure what the metal is.
I totally get the worry with Vinted jewellery — I’ve had some bits arrive that didn’t feel very clean or well-made, so now I tend to stick to new pieces.

Rubbing alcohol is basically a distilled substance, white spirit is the cheapest form. Please don’t use nail varnish remover, that is an acetate reactor and could strip any surface .

My Gran always used gin to clean her diamond engagement ring, so that’s what I use. I suppose you could follow it up with dettol or similar if you are really concerned (not bleach) but . never clean pearls yourself , they famously dissolve in strong substances, Cleopatra dissolved a pearl in wine and drank it to impress Antony.

Vodka?

Yes, vodka would be fine, though preferably not flavoured, you want a clear spirit.
