Tesco toys can look impressive but are actually cheap and nasty and break incredibly easily, or do not work properly from the 'get go'. Discuss

Ds has received 3 tesco toys over the past couple of birthdays - all 3 were faulty in some way. Were we just unlucky?

Tesco train track is brill! I don't have much experience of other Tesco toys, so can't comment.

pinkbubble · 14/04/2008 22:26

To be honest, never had a problem with any toy! SORRY!

you generally get what you pay for (or what others have paid for)

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 14/04/2008 22:27

they seem to last a fair while in this house.

And my kids can break anything

paddingtonbear1 · 14/04/2008 22:29

Tesco wooden train track is fine. Their cheapo battery powered engines not so fine, we had 2 which both only lasted a week or so (not dud batteries)! When I mentioned this to a friend, she said the same had happened to her.
dd got 2 Tesco 'laptop' type toys a couple of years ago. Both broke within a month!

handlemecarefully · 14/04/2008 22:30

Well obviously even Tesco cant fuck up wooden rail track!

The toys concerned were all 'electronic' in some ways... interesting what you say about the battery powered engines

Aaargh that's true about the battery-powered engines - we've had two and they both stopped working very quickly.

Also best to avoid their battery-powered bubble guns IME.

An ethical person will be along shortly to tell us that it serves us right...

Well I have a clear conscience there - didn't buy the Tesco toys personally!

We've had a couple of very good toys from Tesco - we don't make a habit of buying toys from there I might add. They had a "Cars" car which you shake to power up and then let it go - it's still going strong a year later. And recently we've had a model lorry with a trailer that tips up - very good as well and DS loves it. I agree a lot of their stuff is probably not so good, but that goes for almost all toys.
