How to combine pink and orange in a bedroom when the DD's don't want spots or stripes?

posted a little while ago and you fab mumsnetters found me some lovely pink and orange stripey and spotty bedding but neither of them liked it!

So help again, need bedding which will give me a pink (dd1's fav colour) and orange (dd2' fav colour) colour scheme.

dd1 wants a castle and dd2 wants dora!

are the castle and dora what they want on their bedding?

Why not buy some lengths of fabric they both like, and get someone clever to make up some cushions for their beds.

Then they can have dead plain bedding, with funky cushions on top.

Ikea have plain pink bedding - poss orange. How about getting white and dyeing it orange? Or is that a very impractical suggestion?

La redoute or maybe vertbaudet also do plain colour bedding.

Pannacotta · 14/04/2008 21:37

Like mrspink's suggestion, I'd buy some plain white bedding and dye one set pink and the other orange and then get some funky stripey curtains/cushions/beangbag covers made.
John Lewis has good stripey fabric plus Dylon machine dyes.

Hiya Decorating the bedroom or playroom? Are you doing the whole lot or just bedding?

If doing whole bedroom I'd go for the colours ont he wall with the designs - how bout a castle painting, with grass and flowers int he garden, and butterflies and dragonflies in the sky. They could all incorparte pink and orange, and other colours too.

Then let them have plain coloured duvet and pillow sets, with funky patterned cushions to match. You could find somone to possible put a design on the pillors to try and match them up a bit too - say a flower or buttlerfly with both colors incorporated, and have same one on each pillow so they match.

Do they need a floor?!

katz · 15/04/2008 10:29

sorry internet died last night - so wasn't able to come back.

Hula - this is the small bedroom, currently the playroom but will be bedroom with bunks, DH doesn't want to paint it but i do! The wall art you've suggested would work well with the yellow walls in there at the mo.

loving these suggestions, will show the DD's later and see what they think.

quite like the idea of buying two plain white sets and double tie dying them with pink and orange.

thank you all

Fab, isn't it? My mum and dad have it in their downstairs bathroom!

TwoFirTreesToday · 16/04/2008 14:25

I would paint two walls white, one wall orange and one wall pink, and paint the opposite colour in flower shapes, size of large dinner plates maybe, using a template. If you go round the edge with a thick silver pen it hides the dodgy painting and looks really good. I did this for my daughters room with butterflies
