Anyone like to share their thoughts on the Citroen Berlingo/Renault Kangoo?

We'd like to change our car to something more economical and have been thinking about Berlingos or Kangoos. What are they like to drive, are the slidy doors really that useful, would they be ok with 3 kids in the back? I'd love to hear of any experiences, good or bad.

We have a Berlingo and it is excellent. The sliding doors are wonderful when parked next to another car and you are trying to get the kids out, you dont have to think about trying not to knock the car next door. It is lovely to drive, you feel very high up, it is good on diesel too. I have had 3 kids in the back with no problem with car seats, and they have plenty of leg room. The high backed roof also means you can put the pushchair in without having to fold it down every time. The boot space means we can take loads with us when we go camping too.

As you can see, I would definitely recommend a Berlingo. We will buy another one when the time comes.

One set of grandparents has the Berlingo in our family and the other the Kangoo!

They both love them - easy to drive, park and easy to slide the doors back if they ever drive our daughters and need to take them in and out of the car seats.

Great for carting lots of stuff around, so much space in the boot as long as you pack carefully.

I do find them both noisy though. I also love the height, you can really see things ahead on the road. My mum's Kangoo struggles a bit on hills, worth taking both for a test drive.

I have had a Berlingo for 5 years and it is excellent for children. Plenty of space for 3 in the back. The sliding doors stop children opening them into other peoples parked cars.
Easy to drive, good visibility due to high driving position and room for loads in the boot. We got ours because we camp, sail and have a dog.
Mine is a bit noisy and slow being the 1.9 diesel but that doesn't bother me.
My DC are 10 and 12 now and still have plenty of room. However they are a bit embaressed by it now as it is not the coolest of cars! (Even though Jeremy Clarkson put it on his Cool Wall when he reveiwed it on Top Gear).

We bought a Berlingo in August & it is wonderful. I think the recent versions are less noisy & has plenty of kick on hills. The space & the airiness inside is great. Loads of storage space - very practical family car.

We travelled to France with DS (in car seat) & 2 geandparents in back plus all our luggage. There is also loads of storage inside the car.

I love my Berlingo!

we have a berlingo and it is fab

sliding doors great

good to drive

loads of boot space

I have a diesel one; my mechanic drives a diesel berlingo and says the diesel engines on citroens are great, VW-style reliability

Rented a kangoo on holiday
Loved the space, visibility, sliding doors, child-friendliness
And you don't mind the fact that it's very ugly once you are sitting in it.

Had a Berlingo for a few years - twas great. Loved the sliding doors and it had 3 full size seats in the back. Enormous boot space for holidays.

We only sold it (on ebay - there are loads btw) because we got flooded in one Xmas and bought a 4x4 to escape the next time - we live in the sticks!

Grandparents have a berlingo and tis great! Am hoping to borrow it for our holidays this year as so spacious and easy to drive!

We just rented a Berlingo in France last week and I loved it - although having forgotten my licence I couldn't drive it so couldn't tell how responsive it is etc.

But the space inside and the sliding doors are fab, and we had 3 full-sized offspring in the back seat (2 @ 5'7 and 1 @ 5'10, although they are all quite skinny)

Nice big boot too.

The only problem we had was that, although it was a new car, the electric window button on DH's side fell inside the dash (but then he is very heavy-handed in general - when he types you can hear it throughout the house, so he probably STABBED the button but even so I was a bit taken aback )(French cars are not renowned for being robust of course)
