Problems with Bugaboo Chameleon

Has anyone else found that their Bugaboo Chameleon is unsuitable in the most upright position?

My daughter seems to be tilted forwards, being restrained by the harness piece that goes between her legs. She absolutely hates it now, but loves my mum's £100 buggy!

Does anyone else have similar issues?

Yes I found that too, DD did look like she was just suspended by the straps in that position! It's a shame because the next 'tilt' back is a semi-lying one, which is fine when they are very little (pre 12 months-ish I guess) but not when they are bigger and wanting to sit up and look around.

NorthernLurker · 10/04/2008 12:30

how old is your dd? Mine is 11 mths and she loves that position and looks very comfortable in it.

PixelHerder · 10/04/2008 12:33

I don't know if they vary according to when they were made, mine was about three or four years old. Maybe the newer ones are better?

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 12:33

Pixel - that sounds like exactly the issue. What did you do?

Northern - she is also 11 months but she just doesn't look comfy at all - she is sort of hanging there as opposed to actually having her lovely bum in the seat.

Pixel - no its only a year old

I sold it lol

I got it when DD was about 8 months old and it was fine for a while, but when she got to about 18 months old she just seemed too big for it, the seat unit felt kind of wobbly and top heavy to push.

I can't remember if the problem improved when the seat unit was facing forward, but I only wanted it for its 'rear-facingness' anyway.

I use my Techno in town now, and have bought an old Mountain Buggy Terrain for walks. Do miss the rear facing though...

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 12:40

I'm thinking of putting mine on ebay. But my parents bought it for me and I feel so guilty about selling it.

Although when we went out last Saturday we left the Bugaboo at home and took my mum's buggy - which is ridiculous as it was £600!

Do you have the footmuff as well? If so which slot does the strap come through? Just looked at mine and there is a second one and if we were using that i can see B would be squashed! can't think why that's there tbh!

PixelHerder · 10/04/2008 12:43

It would be sensible to sell it if you're not getting proper use out of it, their resale values are very good and you can spend the money on something more useful

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 12:48

Northern, there are three slots I think (hard to say without it here) and I've put through the one closest to her because I just didn't feel like she was very secure.

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 10/04/2008 13:00

mine is on the middle one of the three - maybe worth a try? It should allow her to sit 'down' a bit more?

MissPaulaYates · 10/04/2008 13:04

mine has been fine but do tend even now to have it halfway back ds just 2 - so not 'erect' iykwim

i find now though that there is some issue with centre of gravity on it - as he is heavier- and it is difficult to steer without veering over almost

havng said that have lurrrrrrvvvveed it until recently

it is my fave pram and i have had a lot

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 13:04

Northern - that's the one it was on previously and it made no difference.

Bugaboo have agreed to send me new seat fabric as they say the seat should be totally horizontal at a 90 degree angle. I don't agree as even brand new ones in the shops seems a little titled to me.

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 13:06

Erect - that's exactly the problem - she's almost straight, like she's pinned to it!

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 13:06

Not suggesting your nickname is Erect, MissP.

MissPaulaYates · 10/04/2008 13:09

lol! no you are right - upright is very upright - ds fell asleep in this position the other day and it looked as though he was only help up by the harnes and would slip out otherwise

LessThanImpressed · 10/04/2008 13:17

Mine is like this too - ds looks as if he is almost 'leaning' out of the front so I tend not to have it in that position. Which as you say is a bit of a shame because it's then the old semi-lying position. A bit disappointed really! It was dh's idea to buy one, I was never that fussed... but he loves it lol!

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 13:21

Yeah - dh loves ours too. I'm glad its not just mine. I'll keep you posted on what Bugaboo suggest next. I'm not prepared to let it go, the pram was so damn expensive and I expected to be able to use it until she grew out of a pram for 600 quid!

hear hear PJ!

It's such a lot of money, that will be interesting to hear what they say.

I will keep watching!

Well we've just been out and try as I might I can't get dd3 to look uncomfy and too upright! Lucky for us I guess.

LessThanImpressed · 21/04/2008 09:02

Any joy PJ?
