AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I have trawled the net but i'm having real problems finding a bed gurad that will fit our ds cot bed.
It has a slatted base and the matress is 140cm long.
I really need one as ds is a real wriggler in bed and will fall out so many times in the night.
Any ideas will be fantastic.

Thanks littlelapin.
The 140cm one will just fit but it would cover the whole of the bed so he would probably climb out (and fall no doubt).Ideally i need one that is about half the width so he can get in and out easily.
What a nightmare.......begining to give up hope and may end up getting a low single bed.
Any more ideas?

I use a tomy travel one which works on any bed as its the weight of the mattress that holds it in place

its more of a mesh/net thing, similar to lapins link and it folds right down for when we're away

good luck

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 09:58

my matress is too short for the baby dan one and the Tomy one can only be used on solid bases.
See the trouble i have been having.....

We used the Tomy one (on Lapins link) on DD's cot bed. Not sure of the length but it was a slatted base standard M&P cot bed. It worked fine.

suwoo · 08/04/2008 10:00

Its fine on slatted bases, trust me

Just not to sure about using it on a bed they don't recommened.I think i will have a look at single beds....any ideas on that front, which one do you have?

Nobodysfool, I know you say your ds is a wriggler but I reckon you could still probably do without a bed guard.

Just put LOADS of cushions on the floor, so if he falls, he will land nice and softly. (You could even try putting the mattress on the floor to begin with, so he gets used to the idea of the mattress without rails first.)

I did this with all three of mine - and they were all fine. In fact, they got quite blase about falling out. You'd hear a soft bump, and then the sound of a little body scrambling back into bed.

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 10:28

May be worth a try.....just concerned by the fact that when he wakes up in the night-very rarely-he doesn't settle back easily,it usually takes about an hour or more.Purely selfish i know but a full nights sleep will go out of the window if he falls out of bed and wakes up.

I sympathise but, you know, if he is a deep sleeper, he might not even wake up!

I often found mine asleep on the cushions in the morning...

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 10:32

Just told dh about the cushion idea and he laughed and said ds would be using it a a trampoline an would never get back in bed to sleep.
I think i may attach velcro to his jim jams and some to the bed sheets....that will keep the little bugger still!

lol

am liking the velcro idea a lot...

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 10:39

I'm sure there would be a market for it!

you need one of these...

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 10:44

How funny they look like a straight jacket for the young.

NZ supplier

not a bad idea though - imagine not having to schlep the travel cot round the country...

nobodysfool · 08/04/2008 10:53

What about if your dc sleeps in their front?Could be interesting.
