where do you all get them from?

ds(14) has got through two pairs this year already, the sole just comes off! they weren't cheap either.

What size is he? DS1 (who's just turned 10) is a 7/8 and I hate buying him school shoes. Adult ones are expensive and just don't seem to be able to cope with what he puts them through! ATM he's wearing cheaper ones that I don't mind replacing (M&S do boys school shoes up to a 9, DS's current ones cost £16 so I don't care too much what he does to them) I'm just waiting for DS's feet to grow a little more so he can fit into a pair of DM shoes I have in the cupboard!

he's a size 7, the last ones were adult and were £40! and still the sole fell off. Maybe i'll try m & s, didn't realise they went up so high in size.

I think it's a fairly recent thing, I only found out a couple of months ago. I don't know anywhere else that does reasonably priced ones in that size - I'm pretty sure Clarks do their school shoes up to a 9 too, but they cost £40+ and I think you have to get the store to order them in (I've never seen them on the shelves)

they're so overpriced aren't they. sure womens shoes aren't that expensive .

i'm so broke this week so had to just get him some £10 ones from tesco until i get paid. he'll probably hate them, they're like winkle pickers .

I think that's some kind of law actually - school shoes and/or uniform will only fall apart at the time when you can least afford to replace it. It goes with the one that says they will only tell you said item is knackered five minutes before leaving for school in the morning (or last thing Sunday night.....)

southeastastra · 07/04/2008 11:21

yep he showed me 5 minutes before he's out the door, i had to glue them, i have a feeling he'll come home without a sole at all. wouldn't mind but he's been off two weeks.

how about these:

my sister usually buys her boys good make shoes like these as they tend to be better made, one of hers is a size 10 an the other a 7,and buying them from there they are half the rrp price or less.

southeastastra · 07/04/2008 16:55

oh they both look great thanks sazm, will show ds.

he hates the ones i got today not surprised but i spent my last tenner on them and he'll have to wear them like it or not.

the soles are nearly off the others.

exactly the same problem here 11yr old ds shoes last 3wks on average are they just not well made ,I am now considering dr martin shoes without toecap

ScienceTeacher · 08/04/2008 11:58

DS goes to M&S for his shoes. They last the whole year, despite his playing football in them at breaktime.
