I've got the C8. I have never had such a big vehicle and the fuel consumption is shocking so I would check out how that compares to your other choices.

Other considerations would be that it has sort of holes in the floor that the chairs slot into and with kids in the car loads of grot goes down there. Do the others have better seat fixing systems?

Also, when the door shuts, if a person/child/obstacle is in the way, it pushes right up against it before reopening. It does not have sensors to prevent it making contact before, do the others have better safety features on the doors?

I would actually get rid of mine and get a Touran if I could but we are tied into finance.

cheers for that wcl - I was chasing you for info on 'our' thread - very interesting as Octo doesn't rate them either!

I do find it hard to keep up on those threads as not got much time these days and can't keep on top of high volume of posts.

Those are the only things that niggle at me, otherwise I quite like it to be fair.

Though we had the Touran as a hire car and much more economical and sturdy but not 7 proper seats as got the 2 in the boot. And another car I would consider would be a Fiat Doblo Multispace, incredibly ugly but cheap and practical.

cheers WCL - have had a chat with dh and we have decided to put the car shopping on hold and concentrate on the loft conversion instead (unless no.4 is concieved )

I have a C8, and I like the size, driving position - and most of all, the electric sliding doors.

The one downside is that we have a diesel, and there is an engine error that keeps flashing up - we are pretty sure it's a problem with the warning lights rather than the engine itself, but it causes the engine to run on limited revs. Citroen refuse to acknowledge the problem because they don't know what the solution is - it's the same for the other manufacturers that use this engine, eg Peugeot.

thanks Science teacher we have a picasso and love it (many don't) which is why we are looking at the C8 mainly. Shame the car is going on the back burner for a while - but we will get there.

We´ve got the Peugot 807 and are generally happy with it. Ours is just over 2 years old and out of warranty and lots of things have started to go wrong, mainly to do with the electrics. So, although we like it we probably wouldn´t buy another one.

ScienceTeacher · 09/04/2008 12:25

Do you get an 'anti pollution fault', Hupa? I get this and also high temp warnings, even when the car is cold.

We have a secondhand diesel C8 6 seater top of the range early model. The 6 seater version has good access to the back row of seats.
The sliding doors are great- ours has slightly over sensitive sensors on one side so has to be manually closed on a bad day or it keeps reopening. The childlocks need to be on filling up as the back door slides over the petrol cap! We also loose toys in the seat slider gaps, which is a nuisance. We get about 40 - 43 to the gallon which isnt too good. I find it a bit big to drive, but its very nice on long motorway journeys smooth and quiet and I like the heated seat! The drive can be a bit soft in town - I can get woozy as a passenger - but then I get woozy in almost everything. We had trouble with a warning light, till the sensor was replaced, and the parts are quite expensive.
I preferred our old (worn out!) lighter more economic Picasso, but the new stretched (5+2 popup seats) version was a lot dearer than an older C8.

It was a high temperature warning - it was fixed- I think it defaults to warning when loose or malfunctioning.
