Thinking of buying a Maclaren Techno XLR, is this a good idea?

I'm now on buggy no 3 in 16 months so this one has GOT to be the buggy to end all buggies!

If you have a Mac Techno XLR, do you like it? What's the storage like and is it easy to nip around town with? Can you use a buggy board with it?

These and any other comments most welcome!

Have you had a Techno/Maclaren before?

My friend has one and loves it. I have got a Maclaren Techno XT though, as it is smaller and also suitable from birth. However, my friend had a BIG baby - 10lb4 when born, so she is likely to need the bigger buggy before she puts it away again, so if you have a big child, I would recommend. Nice and light, she gets all her shopping on it no problem, adn I know buggy boards go on maclarens really well. And the hood is fab, unles it is really lashing down, you can just pull the hood over to pretect the baby without having to faff with the raincover. - same applies for sun protection.

Oh, and you can make the XLR into a travel system with a Recaro car seat - so has it all if you ask me - small, easy to fold, fits in the boot, travel system, looks quite nice, lasts well (I don't think you can beat Maclaren for staying power!), and easy to fold and carry one handed etc

Brilliant, thanks PotPourri. I have a Quinny at the mo which also has a great hood and was hoping my next (and last!) buggy would have the same. Quinnys are fab to look at but so bl**dy heavy! Not practical for going up and down stairs, which I do quite frequently.

Lenny - no, never had a Mac before. Why?

Thanks again, PP - am planning ahead for baby no 2 so staying power essential!

Just wondered how much to tell you about it! PP got there first!

I use Maclaren Xt with a buggy board and it's fine, but I can't fold it up as the attachment for the buggy board goes in between the fold mechanism thingy. We've got another buggy for the car as it's a pain to take on and off.

I have the older version and it was one of my best buys. DD was in it from birth and even though she is really tall, she shows no signs of growing out of it. It doesn't fold as small as some of the really light buggies, but it fits into the car even when we have all of DD's other stuff, it's really nippy around the shops and it's much cosier than a standard light buggy.
The storage underneath isn't huge, but that's the only downside that I can see. I checked out that you can fit a buggy board to it, and the website says that there is no problem (DB2 due in October ).

Yes ... you can use buggy board but can't collapse it with the buggy board attached!
