Aspace-will it last through childhood? Or have I just made a HUGE mistake?

Have serious storage problems due to dd (4) being bessotted with "playsets", especially sylvanians and animal hospital. Long story short her room is large but horrid as we live in a furnished rented house filled with melamine furniture a la 1970's, and the laminate is peeling off it all and I cannot make it look good no matter what I do!!! I feel dreadful as she does not have her own "space" as it were, so I have got loads of beautiful aspace 2nds/sale storage things to try and boost the room a bit. Ow ow ow ow ow said my bank account, so am now feeling guilt and hoping they will pay for themselves on a cost-per-use basis-will they last her into her teens or will they be on the dump in two years? [nervous glance at bank manager]

What have you bought?

LilyMunster · 02/04/2008 00:38

well... i bought two of the bunk beds with underbed storage on the basis that
a, we were doing the whole house and dp told me to spend more than i was looking at
b, it would last forever, blah blah, convert to singles blah..

you know what? i could have gotten perfectly lovely bunks for WAY less, and then not felt i had to live with the same sodding furniture forEVER...

my vote is cancel the order and pop off to ikea... thats what id do if i had the chance now...(too late for me!)

Two bedside tables, two blanket boxes (2nds that I thought I could cover with gingham cushions and surround with bunting) and two bedside tables but with drawers in, like mini chests of drawers, and a little cupboard. They are also v able to be moved to other areas of the house if she grows out of them (we may even eventually have our own house by then, oh the heavenly thought!) xxx

they look great - they are going to last forever... but im sure i'll be bored by then!

sounds like you bought smaller, more adaptablke stuff tho, and 2nds so theyre prob more bargainous. so you prob wont regret it.

its al;l v good quality as far as i can tell from the bunks alone

I am feeling rather guilty-lishiciously smug that I have aspace furniture, feel like I can now be hoisted to the heady heights of middle/upper middle class furniture!

Never heard of Aspace before but am looking for bunk beds for my girls. Wanted a kind with shelves at the top though. Only seen one like that at GLTC and is beech coloured.

Aspace have nice white one for £395 including mattresses. i THINK that is very reasonable.

GLTC one is£479 plus need to buy mattresses separately.

Feelingbetterslowly · 02/04/2008 00:53

I paid £350 for dd's bed (incl mattress) at ikea and that was just a single, and it's not brill if I'm honest, I wish I hadn't bothered, so I would say that was reasonable.

Its difficult on t'internet though isn't it because you can't actually wsee it, touch it etc.

I think bedside tables and boxes will always be useful.

I never get rid of anything am a right hoarder. Hence our house is over filled with furniture, silly really.

Yeah, I always worry about shopping online, but don't drive so it's useful for getting the stuff home!! The worst think about the internet is you just think "oh I fancy that, click, money spent, argh!!"
