My house is old and bits of it are falling apart.
Can anyone give me a rough idea what it costs to get a sash type wooden window replaced (with the same thing) ?
Will I need a second mortgage?

I know it's just that if I did replace any, couldn't do whole house at once. In fact it's only 2 at the back that need it, rest ok.

Tinker I see you are going through the same thought process as me. Some of mine are ok. All currently white. Initially thought about just replacing the really bad ones and painting white to match. Then thought (as Irishbird says) it would be a real shame to paint over lovely wood (and harder to maintain)but it would look odd to have some wood and some white. Thus considering replacing all of them. YIKES. No holiday for us for a while

We are thinking of windows for the side extention we are planning. Will probably go for casement otherwise we'll never be able to afford it all in one go but I wish we could have sash. We replaced a (horrible) window at our old house with a casement and it did look really good when closed but when it was open it ruined the illusion! Yes, it was good knowing ds couldn't climb out of it but then I would only open a sash window at the top anyhow.
