Hello !

I have had a maclaren triumph since dd was about 8 months although we didn't really get on with it until dd was about 13 months and since then it has been our only buggy. Its light and pretty robust - DD is now 3.2 although we hardly use it now it works just as well as when we bought it (although its somewhat battered).

I would definitely buy the same again (although in a nicer colour ).

fingerwoman · 31/03/2008 20:52

maclaren buggies have shit brakes, unless you get something like the techno.
you can get similar ones for a lot less money than a maclaren.

what do you want out of it?
tbh buggies are pretty much of a muchness, you'd do worse than go into mothercare and just test a few out

we have a jane energy which is really nice, has suspension, lies completely flat, chunky wheels, good leg support bit

how old is your lo??
do you useit for walking a lot?
off road or in town??
how big is your car boot?

quint · 31/03/2008 20:56

I hate my mclaren and DD2 (18m) feels the same - she never complains when I put her in the Quinny Buzz - but thats a bit too big now and so need something else just as comfy.

LadyJogsAlot · 31/03/2008 21:47

thanks for the replies everyone.

some answers:
lo is 9 months.
i don't drive - use buses and public tsport a lot.
also walk a lot.
live in london.
we have a small car, a yaris.

has anyone tried a mamas and papas one?

we went into mc and road tested some.
lo wasn't keen on one maclaren which didn't go fully upright.

i have the quinny zapp or buzz i can never remember it is very light and pushes really easily it would be great for getting on buses with and it folds down really small too.

only problem with it is it doesnt lay down so if your lo sleeps a lot in the buggy it might be a problem b ut my sis has just bought a zia which is practically identical expect it lays down

sazm · 31/03/2008 22:08

so i take it,it's a stroller you are looking for? do you have a budget?
i loved the maclaren techno XLR (but it was too long for my boot),its very sturdy and is big enough that it would do until lo didnt need a buggy anymore.
i have a zapp and love it,but it doesnt recline so maybe a 9mo is too little for it,and also the rear wheels are quite far apart for getting on/off buses compared to a stroller type.
its fine for in town but not great on bumpy roads/off roading

onelittlelion · 01/04/2008 02:30

What about a Micralite or a Jane Carrera Pro they both fitted in our tiny boot and have 4 wheels and can be pushed with one hand.

I walk a lot too as don't drive and use public transport occasionally and would use a 3 wheeler whenever I can but I think it depends how often you will need to fold it etc?

LadyJogsAlot · 01/04/2008 08:54

yes i want a stroller really.
something that folds up small and is lightweight.

my budget is not too much over £100.

i think TBH if you want this stroller to last until your lo is out of a buggy,a maclaren techno xt or xlr may be best (you would prob have to get a second hand one or an ebay bargain)for it to be under your budget.
however if you get bored easily or dont mind buying a new one in a yr or two i would go for a cheaper one.
i had a few from toys r us(bargains in the sales)and they were great for me,but i only use a buggy once a week, not every day.
the O-Baby ones on ebay are nice they are very similar to the maclarens and come in lots of different fabrics

BexieID · 01/04/2008 12:48

Micralite Fastfold. There is a website where you can get one new for about £80, provided you don't mind ordering from overseas! I've been using mine since Tom was 4 months. He still sleeps ok in it, even with only 2 seat positions.

the obaby atlas is nice bit like a maclaren quest but sturdier and more hardwearing the chicco ct04 is nice for doing alot of walking but are wide for getting on the bus a mamas and papas p3 is luvly small when up resonably small when folded not much bigger than a techno xt and is nice and comfy and u can get loadas of shopping on it the maclaren techno xt is nice but i don't like it for doing alot of walking prefer the p3 as it is better for walking hope this helps can u tell i am a buggy addict lol

sazm · 01/04/2008 17:14

oh yep a pilko would be good, would have to be second hand though, but there quite easy to get hold of a good one on ebay.

Twinkie1 · 01/04/2008 17:15
