A Present for my Mum - Ad vice on Ninteno brain thing

My Mum loves cryptic crosswords and is great with maths.
I was wondering if these Nintendo brain things are any good? I know nothing about them, just the ad on tv.
Anyone got one/bought one/seen one?? Shall I get her one?

I love mine, I have the first brain training one and the eye sight one too

very addictive and you end up doing it everyday!!

am sure she would love it

but you DO realise you have to buy the nintendo console AND the game, there might be a package available but its not just the game you buy

I don't mean to offend by telling you that its just that whats my aunt did - she went into store to buy one for my uncle, who loves it btw, and did't realise she had to buy the console

MerlinsBeard · 31/03/2008 19:46

my sis has the brain training one and i have more brain training. mine is quite hard but i enjoy it, both have different games on and both are addictive!

but yes you will need to buy the actual ds as well

My DD (8) was playing with my dad's one (he's 75) over Easter and loved it. I'd imagine the games get a bit repetitive after a while, it seems to rely on getting faster; I don't know how many other brain training games there are for it? Maybe someone else knows?

BellaLasagne · 31/03/2008 19:47

P.S. You're looking at £99 for the console plus about £30 for each game.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 19:51

comet

package with both brain training and more brain training is £135 from comet

CommonSense · 31/03/2008 19:52

My parents enjoy playing, it has suduko on it as well.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 19:53

console on currys for £99 and brain training for £20 so comet seems like best value

do you have a sibling you could go halves with?!?

Hulababy · 31/03/2008 19:54

I prefer More Brain Training to the first Brain Training. I am not as keen on Big Brain Academy. I like Sight Training too. And I am gettigng addicted to Scrabble, and also Boggle, which I played a lot multiplayer style with a friend on holiday.

My parents like theirs too. My mum's friend recently bought one for her DH, who sis recently diagnosed with Alzehimers - to keep his brain active a bit.

I love the one that we have, and I play most days.....having got my 'age' more than 20 years younger than my actual age.....smug preening emoticon needed

LittleWonder · 31/03/2008 20:08
