Planning ahead for summer hols.

Need a pushchair and would like some recommendations as to what to buy.

Have a Bugaboo cameleon, fab for its high pushing handles ( both DH and I are both tall), great manouverability etc.

But need to take somethign that will fold up small and take up less space than the bug in the hire car and is sturdy enough to withstand being thrown about in the hold.

DD will be 15 months when we go.

Thinking about a Quinny...but no idea about differences in models.

Any pushchair experts aorund?

Actually I'd recommend a graco citisport - they are very light (5kgs), lie flat, have an adjustable handle, easy to steer, large basket, a surprisingly good pushchair tbh!

Thanks cargirl, will have a look

Quinny zapp is brill BUT it doesn't recline so depends if thats something you want...

It folds ever so small and is the smallest folded pram around iir. Also lightweight and able to be plac into overhead lockers.

We sold the quinny zapp and bought a silvercross pop as we wanted a recline option and liked this one as well. Umbrella fold and not so compact BUT did everything we wanted it to....

Have also just bought a chicco ct06 as got for bargin price of £33 brand new..just wanted something cheap as its for dd and she won't be needing it beyond hols..Again it does all we need it to. Doesn't lie flat BUT dd is not so keen on pram sleeping now.

Have had a look at the Zapp and it does look good, fairly light and as you say folds very small am just a bit worried about a lack of recline. If we go out for a meal in the evening or just a sleep during the day she would be so much more comfy if she could lay back.

Also would prefer bigger tyres, we will be going over bumpy ground as well as pavements. The zapp tyres look quite unforgiving?

I have a MacClaren Quest for everyday use, it folds flat, has a hood which is useful as sunshade, and it is quite light weight.
For holidays I use the Volo, but it doesnt recline, and has no hood, but is extremely lightweight, and comes with a shoulder strap so you can carry it on you. I am tall, and find that I have to walk bent with many other puschairs.

Where are you going?

Thanks, will add your recommendations to my list.

Going to Italy, Tuscany and Rome ....roll on summer

hi i have a zapp and love it,BUT i think on holiday you would be best with something that reclines, also the handles arent that high(im 5ft6 and its fine for around the town but i couldnt push it on a long walk, would kill my back)
how about a zia? or a luna?

Orchide · 01/04/2008 15:30

Agree sazm. Have been to look at a zapp today and really liked it but such a shame it doesnt recline. Def. wont be buying one.
The zia looks promising, will have to find out if there is anywhere local so i can go and have a look.

We have a Jane Energy. It reclines fully, is really light to push and has high handles. the only think is that it is quite long so it is a bit of a tight fit in the boot of our focus so you might want to check on that.

GColdtimer · 01/04/2008 15:36

here

We have the Jane Energy too, and whilst it is good there were a couple of things that I was disappointed in:

  • It is advertised everywhere as being 5.6Kg, but that is the chassis weight only i.e. without seat, wheels etc. If you actually weigh the flippin thing it is more like 7.2Kg - really annoyed me as we were looking for an ultra-lightweight holiday buggy.
  • It is long as twofalls said, and the fixed handle height would be very uncomfortable for shorter people.
  • The catch for holding it closed is USELESS as it catches in the frame everytime you close it unless you specifically hold it out of the way.

However it does recline fully, has a big enough seat, adjustable calf support, suspension and bigger wheels than most lightweight buggies (so better for uneven ground)

Would think about the Zia if was looking again. HTH.
