paraben-free moisturiser?

do you use a paraben-free moisturiser (face) that you would recommend? i ideally want something not too expensive, i've been looking on-line, but everything seems more expensive than the one i was using (comlete with parabens) and in a smaller jar, making it even more pricey. i was considering buying a 'base' moisuriser that you're supposed to add aromatherapy oils to, then not bothering adding the oils.

any advice? ta.

Try purenuffstuff.co.uk They do lovely stuff - all paraben adn nsaties free. I guarentee you will not want to liit your choice to just a face moisturiser - good prices. some of the scents are hit and miss according to your own taste. I am slowly working my way around the entire range - and have liked about 80% of what I have tried so far.
another site is beautybazaar.co.uk

(NB, these websites might be dot com, not co.uk)

Or try faith in nature stuff. You can get that online from ecotopia.com, or from teh local helath shop. Their stuff smells nice and mild and works really well. Not too expensive

Have you seen this thread about the bottom butter? I have eczema and am sensitive to parabens but have been using this stuff for a week and so far it's great. Ingredients: Olive oil, Hydrogenated Olive oil, Vanillin, Chammomile oil!

thanks for that pp, that purenuffstuff is certainly more within my price range than other things i had found. re scent, i was going to plump for unscented - would that be a safe bet do you think, oh moisurising guru?

drusilla - that's hilarious, sadly there is no waitrose near here, otherwise i would definitely try it out. should i ever visit a town with a waitrose however, you try keeping me away!

thanks for the advice both, my old moisturiser has run out and i am starting to look very crispy...

Yes, go for the unscented, that way you can't end up not liking the smell!

LOL at 'crispy'!! In the meantime (purenuffstuff send really quickly) ust use olive oil at night ot keep the crinkles at bay)

"Better basic for the home" has several preparations you can make yourself which are really economical and based on traditional recipes. I use aloe vera gel mixed with about 1/4 glycerin. You can increase or decrease the amount of glycerin to suit.

One of my friends has challenging skin and can't cope with parabens. She has raved about the Tesco B Natural (sic?) range. She sent me a gift box recently and I have been quietly impressed.

LOl at "challenging" skin!

fairyfly · 25/03/2008 20:15

Is it because you believe Parabens can cause Cancer?

Drusilla · 25/03/2008 20:23

I avoid them because they irritate my eczema - not because I think they cause cancer

fairyfly · 25/03/2008 22:47

Just wondering as they have been linked with Breast Cancer and a lot of research is going into it. Parabens have been found in the tissues of women with the disease.
