Does anyone have one of these? If so any comments?

We've been looking at the Islabikes as recommended on here, but we don;t live anywhere near their showroom so can't try before we buy.

We've been to a bike shop ans seen the Scoot which looks similar, just wondered if anyone knew anything about them.

I was in a bike shop this week and looked at Scoots too - I think they look great, and the concept is genius, but as my little boy is nearly 15 we won't be buying one!

There are also Puky bikes - wonderful name.

And LikeaBike

They will all work the same way so you can choose by looks and price (and convenience of source) I should think.

(Lidl occasionally have them in, at a very good price, but it's once in a blue moon and not worth hanging on for)

Actually if you do a site search on likeabike or puky or isla, they have been discussed in various threads before - not one big obvious one but lots of "what can I get for X's birthday?"

we bought ds an islabike rothan for christmas. he's 2.5 now. he's brilliant on it, and really loves it.

Thanks everyone - I've spoken to Islabikes about their refund policy if I decide I don;t like it and I think we're going to gove them a try - will let you know how it goes

Our local bike shop does Adams run bikes for about £50
We're going to look at them tomorrow to possibly buy one. They also lend them out to local Toddler groups

Thanks for that - now why didn;t I think of looking there first!!!

Still can;t find out anything else or any reviews of the scoot, so will probably go with the rothan

The Scoot is made by Ridgeback who make proper grown-up bikes too.

It has actual brakes though, and from the comments on here they are no use for the little foot-brakers

ClareVoiant · 22/03/2008 10:35

brakes are essentially a good idea, however, a long lead and a remote control brake for parents would be a good invention though. we have real trouble keeping up with ds when he gets going.

Smee · 22/03/2008 11:41

I'd argue against brakes to start off with. Our DS is now onto a proper bike and brakes were a liability as before he got his confidence he braked ever two seconds so never got anywhere.
We had the Islabike Rothan first and it's very definitely fab. Also, if you don't exchange they sell second hand for very close to the original price as they're so desirable. You have nothing to lose...!

SheherazadetheGoat · 22/03/2008 11:43

dd has one i got in lidl for £12 worth its weight in gold.

quint · 22/03/2008 22:32

Thats it I'm convinced the Rothan it is!
