Why would you flood the kitchen? Will it be up against a wall? Will you have a splashback type thing? How often do you use your sink anyway if you have a dishwasher?

Ikea do drainer things that sit across the sink bowl if you do do washing up of smallish items. I love that stainless steel look, its what I've gone for in my kitchen.

I think it would drip everywhere. Watched the last few mins of an episode of DIY SOS today (as you do!) and they had just done a kitchen with something similar and all I could think was that she would be so pee'd off with it when it kept dripping water everywhere!

NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 16:41

I assume there is no lip on the outside edges of it, so it would just drip.

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:42

there is not lip or anything. so any water will just pour off the surface (i imagine) but do go on, i would love to be convinced.

we use the sink for saucepans and food preparation.

Does it not have an overflow thingy?

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:43

x post. yes the lip thing is teh issue. there is one with a lip but i fancied this one as you can get a diswasher in it.

Why would it flood anymore than an sink underset in a worktop? The tap will have water running into the sink, not all over the sides so i don't follow the flooding/dripping argument.

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:46

when you put things to drain on the side? or when dh is being his usual splashy self.

oh an di have been badly burnt by the sink under the worktop thing before. looks lovely but so impractical.

OP posts:
Maidamess · 20/03/2008 16:49

Sounds like you are talking yourself out of it....

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:49

no no talk me into it!

My inset sink (ie sink under worktop) is brilliant !

How are they impractical ?

Buda · 20/03/2008 16:52

What is a "sink under worktop" thingie?

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:53

we had a sink under a wooden worktop and the wood went all crappy cos it was always wet.

ndp do you get much splashing onto the worktop? what happens to the water?

OP posts:
SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:54

has a lip but too big and no built in dishwasher

OP posts:
nailpolish · 20/03/2008 16:55

i thik it would annoy the tits off me

you wash your veg in the sink, lay it on the side, the water runs off veg and drips on the floor

NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 16:55

like this rather than this

NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 16:56

My sink in undermounted beneath a granite worktop which has grooves in it to drain the water off.

NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 16:56

sorry, my sink is

nailpolish · 20/03/2008 16:56

they have dreels for the water to flow back to the sink tho ndp

i saw a cool ikea bunker - was all in one - fancied it myself (but wasnt stainless steel)

SheherazadetheGoat · 20/03/2008 16:57

ndp - grooves are important!

be quiet np, it looks really nice

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 20/03/2008 16:58

Ah, granite is much more practical than wood when it comes to excess water

nailpolish · 20/03/2008 16:58

yes it looks nice

you can shine it polish it and admire it

but dont wash the veg on it!

Buda · 20/03/2008 16:59

Ah. I get it. For some reason I was thinking it was underneath the worktop not just set just below!
