I am wanting to buy a smoothie maker but don't know which one to go for. Can anyone help please?

They're a waste of money - they're just a blender with a tap at the bottom, and the tap generally gets clogged...........

Yes, what the funkypea said.

Wand blenders are easier to clean, and you can do more things with them (i.e. blend soup in the pan, make smoothies in as big or small a container as you like, etc etc)

My Which? magazine that arrived yesterday had a test on smoothie makers, blenders and juicers. They agree that smoothie makers are a bit of a gimmick and it's hard to clean the tap. But if you have to buy one, they recommend either the Russell Hobbs Illuminating Smoothie Maker 13635 (£60) or the Russell Hobbs Smoothie Sensation 12621 (£70) as they are both fairly quiet and fast, blend smoothly and are easy to use.

There were quite a few best-buy jug blenders so which you choose probably depends on your priorities. The top scoring was the Breville BL33 for £60 from John Lewis, although they said it was louder than others. The next best was the Krups KB720744 (£100) and they said it had the best power of all the machines. If you want to look at the rest of the tests, you might find Which? magazines in your local library.

Thanks all for your help - think I will just buy blender that does other things too!
