Rocking crib for older baby?

In my attempt to avoid traumatic sleep training I'm wondering if a rocking crib would work to help teach our 9mo old to self-settle - but they all seem to be for younger babies. She's pulling up - does that mean it won't work??? I'm guessing so but just thought i"d check with you lot...

Suspect it wouldn't work - can imagine that dd might have flung herself out... Also for self-settling she'd have to rock it herself, which might be tricky. There are other kinds of non-traumatic sleep training - have you tried the No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley?

hello, yeah we[re doing the NCSSS at the mo but not hugely optimistic tbh...going to review first ten days tomorrow. thank you though - think you're right about crib. am clutching at straws!

I do sympathise! Things which helped for us were:

  1. Agreeing on a plan and sticking to it (which took weeks of sleep-deprived bickering)
  2. Agreeing that it would be a long haul thing - a few weeks, in the end, I think.
  3. Taking half hour shifts at ssh/patting
  4. The one not on duty is really nice to the one not on duty - tidies, provides wine/tea/chocolate (esp for the phase sshhing at the door of dd's bedroom for aaagggess).

It did work in the end, and felt like an absolute miracle. You could try posting in the sleep section to see if there are any other tips - apologies if you've already done so. Good luck!

we are NCSSing as well and echo everything Habbibu says
we're in the third week and are starting to see consistent improvements

Cheers for encouragement - will hang in there - still de-latching, and de-latching, and de-latching some more...
