Bottle/ food warmer products: necessary, nice-to-have or neither?

Am about to start weaning DD2, 6 mo.

At the moment she's exclusively BF but I am going to start substituting a FF in the early pm as well as introducing lunch.

Do I need one of those thermos type warmers, and if so which one is good? Are there any that work for both bottles and small food pots?

Never needed one with DD1 as she took formula at room temp and cafes etc were happy to stick her food in the microwave- I hear this has changed in the interim.

thanks, p

I wouldn't bother if I were you - If you're going out to eat I would just heat up her food beforehand and then by the time she was ready to eat it would be cool enough!

I bought one and found it really useful when out for the day but honestly could have survived without it. Most places don't like heating in microwave but will happily give you jug of hot water...if they're not ask for a pot of tea!!!

We had the Fisher Price flask, it was much neater size than the Thermos one.
However we only used it when DS was tiny and then he got his milk at room temperature. Handy if your baby only likes their milk warm.

The ones you plug into the cigarette lighter of your car are crap though, would take about an hour to heat a bottle.

I never bothered heating food if there was no microwave handy, so can't comment on that, sorry.

I wouldn't bother, just get her used to having milk at room temperature, much easier

thanks, I agree re getting her to drink it cold but at the moment she likes it almost unbearably hot- have only just got her to take a bottle after weeks of trying so am happy to accommodate her every whim for a while

Have just bought the fisher price flask, thanks for tip horsemadgal. Got it with boots points so not a 'real' expense but will be useful for upcoming hols I think. Also the avent via cups fit inside so will do for warming food too.

thanks everyone

Don't know about bottles, never used them really but I never bothered heating food, just take stuff like cream cheese and bread sticks and stuff that is nice cold.

i used it for bottles only,as i made them up and stored them in a cool bag to keep them fresh,so they needed warmed a little.
i used jars of food if i was out,and lo's ate them at room temp fine.
