rear facing strollers

ok i am 14 weeks pregnant with my third child and as this was a little unplanned had gotton rid of the from birth buggie we had (although we have had quite a few .....more tan 10

we currently have a micralite fastfold that i'm going to put on ebay at some point, and a quinny zapp which i use for the school run for the two year old if it's throwing it down

now i would really like to try and get away with just having the one stroller this time, but would like it to rear face, fold in one piece although i realise this may not be possible and have air or biggish tyres

i have had a bugaboo and loved it apart frm the two piece fold but could get over this.... looked at the buzz but you need both hands to fold it and i would be using taxis and have to hold the baby whilst folding

has anyone has a firstwheels what are they like

also could you take the seat off the buzz and leave your child in it whilst folding the chassis and then take your baby out of the seat iyswim????

HELP ME!!

Keep the micralite and get the cot to go on it - makes it rear facing By the time baby has outgrown it (5 or 6 mths) it will only be a couple of months before it will want to be facing forwards.

mustsleep · 17/03/2008 13:52

i know but had this with dd from about 6 months and had to get something else as the seat doens;t really lie flat

looked at the new micralite but it looks as though you need both hands to put it back up but only need one to fold it seems a little daft to me otherwise it would be perfect

Oh yeah, didn't think of that, it's not ideal for littlies is it?

No idea in that case!

mustsleep · 17/03/2008 14:15

thanks anyway the toro would prob be perfect but will need one hand for baby oooh unless i got a sling thingy

have you seen the new bugaboo bee?
folds in one piece facing either way!

I have it for my 4week old and have put a buggy board on it for my 2 year old (2 yr old also fits in it perfectly when i have baby in sling!)

I love it!!

mustsleep · 17/03/2008 14:25

hmmm i have see it but not had a proper look see

do you need both hands to fold it? how does it fold

bugaboo bee is very easy to fold compared to the frog/cam/gecko

MrsBadger · 17/03/2008 14:32

get a sling

best £16 I ever spent

needtoasksomething · 17/03/2008 14:33

It folds by lifting 2 buttons (one on each side of the handles).
It fits the maxi cosi car seat on it, so if you are getting taxis then you could take the car seat off the top and put in cab and then fold the pram without baby in it (or if getting black cab just wheel pram straight in!)

Loola?

Pannacotta · 17/03/2008 22:18

Loola, there is a new one out now, the Loola Up which looks good.

onebatmother · 17/03/2008 22:21

isn't one of the benefits of rear-facing that you can talk to them when they're a bit older and that's good for their own talking? ikwim?

I've really, really enjoyed having dd facing me - and till she was 2 she loved it back - made going to the shops much more interactive.. Now she stands on the step facing forward, driving it like a chariot..

geordiemacminx · 17/03/2008 22:37

we got a loola and i love it. Tis quite heavy but then i've never really known anything else. So easy for folding, one piece, fits in focus boot, easy to change seat unit round and brand new only cost us 160 quid, although this was pushchair only as ds was 9 months when we bought it.

amazonianwoman · 18/03/2008 00:14

It is easier to talk to them when rear-facing but not impossible when they're forward facing It certainly didn't impede DD's speech (v advanced according to paediatrician MIL )

onelittlelion · 18/03/2008 09:45

Vigour 3+ is rear facing 3 wheeler which might fold in one piece. There is the nipabout too but hasn't had great reviews.
My fave rear facing but doesn't fold in 1 peice is the Bugaboo Gecko. I bought a Cameleon to replace it as ds was getting too big and didn't like it as much.

nicm · 18/03/2008 10:31

a teutonia spirit s3 faces rearwards. 3 wheel pram. spent months trying to find a 3 wheeler that was rear facing as i still wanted to see them when they had changed from the carrycot. ordered from ping pong online and it will be delivered hopefully the week i'm due!!

sorry for jumping on the thread but i was just wondering why some places that sell loola's say the weight is 10kg and others nearly 14?? are then newer models lighter? if they weigh 10 i'd probably get one as im after a rear facing buggy but one thats light and you dont have to take the seat off!

Pannacotta · 18/03/2008 21:27

I think it is 10kg not 14, thats what Mothercare and JOhn Lewis say and they are reliable.
Have you seen the new Loola up, looks fab?
www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10751&langId=-1&p roductId=52883&source=froogle&cmmmc=Froogle--Shopping%20Sites--CPC--Froogle
Cheaper on Glasgow Pram centre though (but more details on kiddicare site).

PixelHerder · 18/03/2008 21:49

I think in theory you can remove the buzz seat with the child in it, but you'd have to be quite strong or the child quite light.

The buzz does fold in one piece when it's forward facing, if that helps.

afaik there isn't a rear-facing fold in one piece with big tyres, but new models seem to be coming out thick and fast at the mo so I may well be wrong!

the Bee looks nice but small wheels.

sazm · 18/03/2008 22:04

the britax vigour 4 folds in one piece??
